Week 11 Reflection Journal

I really enjoyed this week's discussion post. Whenever we have to watch a series of

videos, I always prefer that because I feel that seeing what we are reading applied in real

life situations helps solidify the information in my brain. I liked how we were able to

watch an overall video of the ECERS tool and then further explore whichever subset was

of most interest to us. I chose the language subset because it relates more to my field and

peaked my interest more so than the other choices.

We only have three weeks and one observation left. I’m ready for the semester to

be done. It’s not that I haven’t enjoyed the class, but this semester has been one of the

hardests academically, socially, and emotionally, and I’m ready to close this chapter of my

life. The end of the semester is always a weird time for me because for the most part, I am

already completely checked out most of the time. When I get like this, I remind myself

how lucky I am to recieve an education. It’s a chance most people don’t get, and I am

grateful that I have been granted with each opportunity to learn and grow. Although

things are coming down to the wire, I know that I can finish strong and will give it all that

I’ve got. It will be so worth it when I get my AA degree at the end of this term. Although

it may not mean much to others and out there in the real world, it resembles my journey

these past 3 years and I’m proud of all I did and the person who I’ve become. This also

gives me motivation to ensure that when I work with kids, I am able to aid them in the

best way for them and bring out their best potential in all domains. For that, I am thankful

for this class and all that I have learned up until this point.
