Animation diploma is for you!
Due to the broad scope of 3D, the first year
provides basic knowledge of drawing by hand,
life drawing, perspective and story boarding,
story writing and character design which
progresses to digital matte painting, compositing
and editing moving footage. With the foundation,
students learn 3D modeling & texturing,
rigging, key frame & procedural animation and
shading & lighting using Autodesk Maya.
Students then create a project in 3D to
demonstrate their mastery of all the skills
learned in Year 1 and allow them to qualify for
Year 2 entry. Skills in planning and organising a
project during the 2nd year, provide an
introduction to industry workplace realities.

Year 2 begins with learning MEL scripting, Credits: 123
digital sculpting in Pixologic Zbrush and Method of study: Full-time
advanced creature modeling. Following this is Duration: 45 weeks

in 3D. Students learn 3D Projections & Matte
Painting with The Foundry’s Nuke as well as other modules
Post-production techniques.
Scripting
From this point on, students choose a specialty; Advanced Modeling 2
either Character Animation (Maya), Lighting, Rigging and Skinning 2
Rendering & Compositing (Maya, Pixar’s Character Animation 2
Renderman, Nuke) or Modeling & Texturing Advanced Dynamics and Effects
(Maya, Zbrush) and learn tips & tricks from Lighting, Texturing and Rendering 2
industry veterans in their chosen area during a Post Production
4-week intensive. Students finally go on to their Specialisation Module
own production project culminating in the 3D Animation 3
creation of their own industry-strength showreel. Rendering 3

New Zealand. Since then our 3D Animation School has
maintained an impressive graduate employment rate. Our

New Zealand’s premiere entry at the Hamburg Animation
