Dear Students

Please note that the QUESTIONS for Assignment 2 have CHANGED. Please IGNORE the questions published
in Learning Unit 2 and in the announcement about Learning Unit 2. The NEW QUESTIONS are given below.

NEW ASSIGNMENT 2 QUESTIONS

Read the extract about “A day in the life of a teacher” and answer the questions that follow.
(The extract is attached to this message.)

Question 1:
1.1 Linking the life of Cynthia to the seven (7) roles of an educator, identify the roles she plays.
Write down each role and how she fulfills that role. For example: Assessor: administers a class
test. [25 marks]

1.2 From the extract, are there any roles that Cynthia is playing less? Why do you think so? [10
marks]

1.3 Compare the roles to any [5] qualities of a good teacher as described in Learning unit 2 of
your module. [15 marks]

1.4 As a student teacher, which roles do you think are important? Why do you think so? [15
marks]

Question 2: Looking at the seven roles of teachers as described in the Norms and Standards for
Educators, what kind of learners are envisaged through the National Curriculum Statement?
Link the roles to the kind of learners. [25 marks]

Question 3: One of the characteristics of being a professional teacher, is the ability to be a


reflective practitioner. Using a DIAGRAM, show what it entails to be a reflective
practitioner? [10 marks]
TOTAL: 100 Marks
