ORAL TASK -20%

TYPE OF TASK: A presentation


PURPOSE: Performing a presentation providing personal and family information by including information about
their preferences and activities they usually do.
PROMPT: You are a new student in a University abroad, the academic counselor wants every student to share
important aspects about family and personal environment.
1. The task will be developed individually.
2. Reading is not allowed at all.
3. Present information about, at least, 3 different family members, including their physical description and
personality traits as well.
4. For each person described, provide enough information. Example: “My favorite relative is my uncle, his
name is Juan, he is from Medellin but he likes to travel to different countries, he is tall, bald and fat. He
likes to watch sports and paint, by the way, he’s an artist!”
5. Use the appropriate vocabulary and structures to present the family description.
6. Time assigned: at least 3 minutes.

Communication and content: understand and complete the task
assigned by talking about his /her relatives; communicate and send
messages so the audience is left with no questions.
Fluency: produce a cohesive discourse; use short, mainly pre-
packaged utterances and link them with basic linear connectors; and
use an appropriate organization within the sentences that are
according to the level.
Vocabulary: use vocabulary about talents and abilities; use a variety
of word choice to make the presentation interesting.
Structure: produce the simple present structure when talking about
talents and abilities; use modal verbs and other sentence structures.
Pronunciation: pronounce and produce intonation patterns of basic
sounds that allow the audience to understand the message.
Pronounce without interfering with the meaning or communication
purpose of the task.
