La vida de Alec en Inglaterra se está viniendo abajo. Su tienda de reparaciones eléctricas, “El Curandero”,
está a punto de cerrar. Debe dinero a la gente equivocada, se acuesta con una mujer casada y bebe como si
no hubiera un mañana.

Inesperadamente, un hombre llamado Raymond aparece, diciendo ser su tío. Raymond llega con una
misteriosa propuesta que permitiría a Alec hacer “borrón y cuenta nueva”: él pagará todas sus deudas y, a
cambio, Alex se mudará a Nueva Escocia durante un año.

Alec llega a Lucemburgo, un pequeño pueblo donde Raymond tiene una casa. Allí conoce a Cecilia, la
veterinaria del pueblo, quien, para ayudarle a encontrar trabajo, le propone publicar un anuncio en el
periódico local ofreciendo sus servicios como electricista. Para hacer el anuncio más atractivo, Alec escribe
“El Curandero: arreglo cualquier cosa eléctrica estropeada”, pero algo sale mal en la impresión y el anuncio
finalmente da a entender que Alec es una especie de sanador milagroso.

Al ver el anuncio, la gente del pueblo acude en manada a contratar sus servicios, aunque Alec les rechaza
explicándoles el error. Pero entonces sucede algo tan extraordinario como inexplicable: ¡todos aquellos que
han ido a ver a Alec se han curado de sus dolencias! El rumor se extiende: Alec, claramente, sana.

Cuanto más se esfuerza el chico en negar sus poderes curativos, más cosas extrañas ocurren a su alrededor:
los perros sienten una fascinación absoluta por su persona; el Padre Malloy, párroco del pueblo, muere de
un ataque al corazón y resucita poco después; y un anciano sordo le dice a su mujer que deje de gritarle.

Alec, en estado de shock, descubre un secreto familiar: tiene un don. El don de curar.

Alec debe ahora elegir: aceptar o rechazar su don.

La llegada de Abigail, una adolescente con cáncer terminal, tremendamente maduro e inteligente, le dará a
Alec una última oportunidad para reconsiderar el sentido de su vida, aceptando el don que la vida le ha
dado.

Alec's life in England is coming down. His electric repair shop, "The healer", is about to close. He
owes money to the wrong people, he sleeps with a married woman and drinks like there's no
tomorrow.

Unexpectedly, a man named Raymon appears, claiming to be his uncle, Raymon arrives with a
mysterious proposal that would allow Alec to do "borron and new account",he will pay all his
debts and in exchange, Alec will move to Nova Scotia for a year.
Alec arrives at Lunenburg, a small town where Raymon has a house. There she meets Cecilia,
the village veterinarian, who, to help her find a job, He proposes to publish an ad in the local
newspaper offering his services as an electrician. To make the announcement more attractive,
Alec writes "The healer: fix anything spoiled", but something goes wrong in the print and the
announcement finally hints that Alec is a kind of miraculous healer.
Upon seeing the announcement, the townspeople go in droves to hire their services, although
Alec rejects them explaining the error. But then something as extraordinary as inexplicable
happens: All those who have gone to see Alec have been cured of their ailments!. The rumor
spreads: Alec, clearly, heals.
The more the boy tries to emanate his healing powers, the more strange things happen around
him: Dogs feel an absolute fascination for their person, Father Malloy, parish priest of the town,
dies of an attack to the heart and resurrects shortly after; and a deaf old man tells his wife to stop
shouting at him.
Alec, in shock, discovers a family secret: he has a gift. The gift of healing.
Alec must now choose: accept or reject his gift.
The arrival of Abigail, a teenager with terminal cancer, tremendously mature and intelligent, it
will give Alec one last chance to reconsider the meaning of life, accepting the gift that life has
given him.
