Eligibility
F
or pursuing B.E./B.Tech course in Electronics & Communication Engineer-
ing a candidate must have passed higher secondary level exam (10+2) or
equivalent, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. While aspiring for the
admission to this discipline, candidates must keep in mind that this branch
is one of the most popular branches in India and a candidate has to perform ex-
ceptionally well in board exams and in engineering entrance exams. For getting
admission to top colleges like IITs, NITs and IIITs, candidates have to qualify JEE
(Main) and JEE (Advanced). Other than these institutes, renowned private colleges
like BITS, VIT University and SRM University also take admission in this engineering
discipline. Candidates have to qualify exams like BITSAT, VITEEE and SRMJEEE for
admission to the institutions mentioned above.
Along with academic qualifications, students must have a creative mind and
an interest in physics and mathematics for pursuing a career in Electronics & Com-
munication Engineering. Students must have good communication and analytical
skills, an eye for detail, sustained attention and the ability to work as part of a team
to excel in this field.

C
andidates with independent thinking and good analytical ability could per-
form well in the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering. This
course opens the gateway to a wide array of industries like mobile devel-
opment industry, telecommunication industry, hardware appliances and
embedded systems. In countries like the USA and UK, no university or institution
conducts the course for Electronics & Communication Engineering. In these coun-
tries courses are conducted in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering and
Communication Engineering. But candidates from Electronics and Communica-
tion Engineering branch have great opportunities over there as electronics and
communication industry are already worth billions and these industries offer lucra-
tive opportunities for graduates, postgraduates and research scholars.
While working abroad, E & C Engineers must have skills for conceiving, devel-
oping and exploiting electronic systems to sign new telecommunication engineer-
ing projects for their company. E & C Engineers must also have to learn new meth-
ods and technologies for solving problems creatively, decision-making according
to circumstances and adapting to a variety of new situations. Along with this, the
engineers from this field must have to develop themselves for adapting to unpre-
dictable situations and taking decisions, work in complex or uncertain environ-
ments and with limited resources, work in cooperation with others and know how
to adapt to multidisciplinary and international environments. All these skills will
help the candidates to excel in the exciting field of Electronics and Communication
