Ang Lihim ng Pamilya ni Rizal

Reaction Paper

“Difficulties are not the reasons to give up but an inspiration to move on.” This dictum I think was
on the mind of Dr. Jose P. Rizal when he was in Dapitan. He never gave up serving our country’s
cause, even though the Spanish tried to deteriorate his life by threatening.

On July 17, 1892 the day when his exile began in Dapitan where he suffered, harassed and
threatened his life by the Spaniards. This exile also strengthened his nationalism, love for his
family, for the people of Dapitan and where his happiness happened.

In Dapitan, he was an exemplary person to the youth because he builds school for theme.
Furthermore, he taught his students arnis, wrestling, boxing and swimming without tuition fees.

Rizal also gave medical assistance and free medicines to the poor person which was a very sincere
action. He also operated his mother’s right eye in Dapitan.

One thing that I adored when he was in Dapitan was his community projects which consisted of
water system and lighting system where the life of the people became easier.

He became also a farmer, businessman and a scientist and inventor in Dapitan where he became
famous.

While he was in Dapitan, someone threatened his life and that was Florencio Namanan (Pablo
Mercado) where Rizal showed his excellence in martial arts,

He met Josephine Bracken in Dapitan who later became his wife. The relationship of the two was
opposed by Father Antonio Obach where he degraded Rizal as a person. That instance,
strengthened his love for Josephine and late was pregnant but sadly it was miscarried.

Dr. Pio Valenzuela went to Dapitan to tell Rizal about the plans of the Katipunan which was
objected by him. And on July 31, 1896 Rizal’s exile came to an end.

Truly the movie “Rizal sa Dapitan” was a very good movie because it showcased how Rizal love
the country. This is a movie for the Filipino and must be treasured because of its nationalistic
theme. No doubt, Rizal’s life was very exciting and purposeful.

A Simple and Prolific Life of Rizal in Dapitan

“Simple yet prolific” is the best word that can describe the life of Rizal in Dapitan. It is simple in
a way that he lives like an ordinary people and prolific because when he was there, his time was
not wasted and made a lot of contribution not only to the place but also to the people. In the first
part of his exile, he lived in a commandant’s house but after winning the second prize in the
Manila Lottery and also from his savings being a merchant and farmer, he bought a land in Talisay.
In this place, he built three houses made of bamboo, wood and also nipa with different shapes. The
first house served as his home, the second house is for his students and lastly, the third house is
for his chickens. Even though Rizal is in Dapitan, he continued to send a letter to Ferdinand
Blumentritt that described his life in Dapitan. The letter says that Rizal is waking up early in the
morning to feed his chickens and cook for their breakfast. After eating their breakfast, Rizal treats
those patients who come to his house and also those in towns. In the afternoon, after being a doctor
in the morning, he transformed into teacher to teach the young boys in their town. These young
boys do not have any tuition fee, but there is one condition, they have to work, especially in the
farm, together with Rizal. And Rizal ended the day in reading and writing. After 4 years, he left
Dapitan, but Rizal’s presence remains there because he has a lot of contribution and also some
projects that until now are running. One of his contributions is the good waterworks system he
constructed in the province. As you can remember Rizal studied surveying when he was in Ateneo
Municipal. Rizal also has a lot of contributions to the agricultural development, in his multi-hectare
land; he planted crops and fruit-bearing trees together with his students. He also introduced the
modern methods and machineries in farming and also in fishing to many of our Dapitenos. By
these many reasons, we can’t deny that Rizal was truly loved by all Dapitenos. As you can see,
when Rizal left Dapitan, all of his students, their parents and also ordinary people together with a
band said their last goodbyes.
July 17, 1892 is the day when Jose Rizal’s exile in Dapitan started. There, he experienced
suffering, harassing and even threatening of his life by the Spaniards. This exile has boost his
nationalism, love for his family, for the people of Dapitan and where his happiness happened. Later
on, his life there can already be described as plain but productive. It is plain such that he lives like
a normal people and productive in light of the fact that when he was there, his time was not
squandered and made a great deal of commitment not exclusively to the place itself only yet
additionally to the general population. In Dapitan, he was an excellent person to the youth since
he constructed a school for them. Besides, he showed his students his skills in playing arnis,
wrestling, boxing and swimming without demanding and accepting payment from them. Rizal
likewise gave free medicines and medical assistance to the underpriviledged which was a very
sincere action of Dr. Jose Rizal. He also worked his mother, Dona Teodora Alonso, correct eye in
Dapitan.

One thing that I revered when he was in Dapitan was his locale ventures which comprised of water
framework and lighting framework where the life of the general population ended up simpler.

He turned out to be additionally a rancher, agent and a researcher and creator in Dapitan where he
ended up popular.
