EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION
Important Notice
THIS X-RAY EQUIPMENT ADOPTS AN INVERTER SYSTEM, ITS OSCILLATION FREQUENCY IS
AN AUDIO FREQUENCY RANGE OF SEVERAL Hz TO SEVERAL kHz AND NOISES ARE EMITTED
FROM THE CABINET DURING THE X-RAY EXPOSURE.
AS THE INVERTER OSCILLATES AT HIGH FREQUENCY, ELECTROMAGNETIC NOISES CAN BE
PRODUCED IN THE X-RAY MONITOR SYSTEM. THESE NOISES MAY BE PICKED UP BY A
CAMERA CABLE AND THEN APPEAR ON THE MONITOS. TO AVOID IT USE SOME PRECAUTION.
BEFORE THE INSTALLATION OF THE X-RAY POWER CABINET FOLLOW THESE RULES :
MAKE SURE THAT THE INSTALLATION ROOM IS FAR FROM POWER PLANTS OR POWER
HV GENERATOR ONES AND THAT NO ONE SERVICE OF THE TV CHAIN SHOULD BE FED
(POWERED) WITH THE SUPPLIES PRESENT INTO GENERATOR. IN FACT THEY CAN BE
SUBJECTED TO THE INVERTER NOISES.
POSITIONING OF THE POWER RACK IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE THE SERVICE EASY.
THEREFORE CABINET MUST BE MOVABLE FROM THE WALL OF ABOUT 60 CM ALL AROUND
EVERY SIDE AND ALL LATERAL PARTS MUST BE QUICKLY AND EASILY ACCESSIBLE.
18

MAINTENANCE - FAULTS
26
No alarm should trigger in this situation.
To check the accuracy of radiographic parameters is necessary to verify that the calibration of these
tubes is correct, while the mA depend on the type of tube, and then the calibration of the data
HardWare SoftWare but also by the setting of the tube.
kV peak are independent the type of tube installed, the parameters to be checked are: kV peak, mA
average spelling, handwriting time, mAs.
As regards the kV is possible to calibrate the measured value, the same applies to the mA, the time
does not require calibration of any kind, being controlled by a quartz, the mAs must be corrected if
the mA are within tolerance.
The adjustments of the circuits HW measurement of kVp and mA are performed in the factory
during the final testing phase; the standard instrument used for this work is a tool produced by
INVASIVE RadCal Corp. and called Dynalyzer; it measures kVp, mA and time.
It is advisable, therefore, in the case in which is necessary a calibration of the part HW, to use this
type of tool or equivalent.
For the tests of accuracy and repeatability follow tables and following procedures:
Connect instruments for the measurement of kV and mA;
It should connect external devices to the generator for the measure, if it were not possible to connect
the oscilloscope to signal kV feedback on the Main Computer.
An usage misuse of these test points or the introduction of noise on this signal can lead to serious
consequences and a malfunction of the power circuit of the generator, mARadio on its test Point
depending on the desired rate.
It is clear that in this case it is only possible to control the waveforms of the X-ray parameters, it is
not possible to calibrate the channels HW relying on themselves, because it lacks the standard
instrument.
Turn on the generator and bring it into operational mode
ACCURACY TEST
An example of periodic tests is represented by the ratio of final testing issued with the generator.
Repeat exposures indicated in values and ways on the test report and verify that the results beds are
included in the range of acceptability for the parameters under consideration.
The deviation of the real parameters than the set must not be higher than 5% for kV and to 10% for
mA.
If they are experiencing considerable differences in kV, before retouching control potentiometer kV
contact the manufacturer.
If you are experiencing considerable differences in mA, before proceeding to a new setting, check
with the service program that the filaments are properly fed, the high voltage cables have pin heads
thoroughly clean and wide, and the tube filaments are turned on .
kV Accuracy
If the kV value is not within the limits given in the table you must make the appropriate settings on
the potentiometers and gain feedback on the card Computer Main.
MAINTENANCE - FAULTS
To adjust the value of real kV must act on the potentiometer, checking the answer through an
external kVoltmeter.
To adjust the value of kV read from the main computer and displayed on the cabinet, you must act
on the feedback potentiometer reading, looking at the real value of kV as per the previous point, and
the value read through the service program .
27
mA Accuracy
If the value of mA is not within the limits given in the table must be rebuilt calibrate the focus.
This is done through the service software.
If the uncalibrated issue is an interval inspect also the system remembering the way the geenrator
uses to measure and control the current, as described below:
There are three channels for the measurement of mA:
icl, channel fluoroscopy with high resolution and saturation channel 10mA
icm, channel X-ray with high resolution and saturation channel 150mA
ich, channel radiography with medium resolution and saturation channel to 1500mA
mAs Accuracy
Since the mAs are the product of mA and time, and being the time is not adjustable, the only
adjustment is that of the mA already seen previously.
CALIBRATION
Since the emission characteristics in terms of quality of the ionizing radiation degrades significantly
with the wear of the filaments of the X-ray tube, the emission curves of the generator should be re-
calibrated every year.
To do this, follow the instructions below in the description of the calibration process of the focuses
through the service program of the generator.

DOSE MEASURE
DOSE*AREA PRODUCT
Configuration
DAP chambers detectors are interfaced through RS422 (1 pulse per uGy*cm2 or 1pulse per
mGy*m2)
Interface is autosensing the presence of the detector.
Measure items follows:
Measure chamber on tube side, inserted in collimetor rails
Connection cable connected between chamber to main computer inside the generator
An optional TM-U220B printer.
Each measurement chamber leaves the factory with a calibration coefficient (number between 0500
and 2000) who introduced the main computer through the program dis erviziocalibra the weight of
each pulse to measure the room campion made in the laboratories of the manufacturer.
The label provides the printer will be on adhesive paper and then glued on the radiograph.
The information contained in it are:
The type of work or FLUORO PULSED or RADIO or CINE
The tube in use T1 or T2 or T3
the date DD / MM / YY
hour HH: MM: SS
the value of kV
the value of mA
the time of handwriting or the sum of the times of handwriting in the same preparation in
millisecond
the dose expressed in mGray per square centimeter
the total time of the RUN or fluoroscopy in seconds
the number of exposures of handwriting or pulsed fluoroscopyKERMA
During the installation of the generator you can activate the pre / post indication of kerma for
intermittent and pulsed regimes.
When the 6 parameters of the kerma dose measurements are non-zero, the control panel enables the
display of these parameters.
The geometric parameterization and the presence of an additional filter occurs through the
measures, statically, in the phase of installation through the service program.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
GENERATOR’S REGULATION LOOP
The logic diagram of adjustment is shown schematically in the figure below, in which the blocks
represent the logical division of the central and peripheral functions, control and power:
Inverter interfacing with the line, where there are safety switches
Three-phase bridge, capacitors, and inductors to power the DC-RAIL and allow the transfer
of power to the inverter.
Power Inverter
High Voltage Transformer
Distribution of power generator
Main Computer and Automatic Control of Exposure
Terminal general interfacing with the outside.
Filament Inverter service power and drive anode
The regulation loop of kV is completely harware in a mixed analog/digital process, this means that
the uP does not directly enter into such an adjustment, what it knows is the real value of kV, and the
status of the generator thanks to digital signals that arrive from the inverter.
When it is requesting the issuance of ionizing radiation predisposes the main computer peripheral
signals to put the tube in a position to deliver the desired parameters (Control Safeties, rotating
anode drive, pre-ignition Fire selected.

Then prepares the signals that enable the inverter oscillation [NONx], then checks that the feedback
signal of the presence of voltage on the inverter is active [IPW] and the signal showing the state of
balance of the branches of the bridge is active [IUB].
Is then set to the reference value of kV, analog signal (OKV +).
The activation of the inverter start signals initiates the charging of high voltage capacitors inside the
High Voltage transformer.
Such charging is limited in current by a ramp of about one millisecond, the Start inverter to the
point of exceeding the 75% of the set voltage.
Here is a digital signal generator of the presence of the High Voltage [IRM].
From here microprocessor start counting the length of time of irradiation
