Assembly instruction
for pneumatic lifting device H8 size 0 to 3 Bl. 1

1 General
This LWN determines the assembly order for the pneumatic lifting device H8, size 0 to 3.

An appropriate sizing of the pneumatic circuit according to the plant parameters ensures that the
valve closes after lifting without hammering. The exhaust air has to be absorbed during closing, to
reduce the piston speed of the pneumatic lifting device.

3 Functional principle
The valve disc is lifted by charging the respective piston surface with compressed air. Thus the lift
movement of the piston(s) is transferred via a coupling to the valve spindle and to the valve disc.

4 Disassembly
4.1 Single piston design
1. Make sure that there is no pressure at the valve inlet and that there is no pressure while
working at the lifting device.

2. Switch lifting device, so that it is free from pressure, remove pneumatic hose or with double
piston design pneumatic hoses.

3. Remove seal (Pos. 23, 24).

4. Pneumatic lifting device H8 size 0:

Unscrew union nut (Pos. 20), then remove cap (Pos. 2).
Attention: left-handed thread (SW 46)!

Pneumatic lifting device H8 size 1 to 3:

Unscrew hex. nut and remove clamp (Pos. 21), then remove cap (Pos. 2).

5. First remove spring (Pos. 6), then O-ring or securing ring (Pos. 14) and pin (Pos. 13). Pull off
the coupling (Pos. 12). Remove the piston (Pos. 4).

6. Unscrew and remove piston guide (Pos. 5) with flexible socket-wrench or appropriate tool.
For pneumatic lifting device H8 size 0: The union nut (Pos. 20) can be removed now.

1. Make sure that there is no pressure at the valve inlet and that no pressure can occur while
working at the lifting device.

2. Switch lifting device, so that it is free from pressure, remove pneumatic hose or with double
piston design pneumatic hoses.

3. Remove seal (Pos. 23, 24).

4. Pneumatic lifting device H8 size 0:

7. Remove O-ring or securing ring (Pos. 14) and pin (Pos. 13), then pull off the spindle extension
(Pos. 40.15) and remove piston (Pos. 4).

8. Unscrew and remove piston guide (Pos. 5) with flexible socket-wrench or appropriate tool.
For pneumatic lifting device H8 size 0: The union nut (Pos. 21) can be removed now.

5 Assembly
The lifting device is assembled in reverse order to the disassembly. Before assembly the following
points have to be checked or observed:

- Are the seals and parts in unobjectionable conditions?

- Are sealing surfaces free from dirt and particles?
- Attention has to be paid that new seals are not twisted during assembly, if necessary, use
assembly aid to position them.
- Are the sealing surfaces of the parts greased?
LESER uses OKS 260 for the assembly of the threads (company: OKS Spezialschmierstoffe
GmbH). For the sealing surfaces LESER uses Klübersynth UH1 14-151 (company: Klüber
Lubrication München KG). In case of free of oil, grease and silicone LESER uses
HALOCARBON 56S for sealing surfaces and threads. When using other lubricants observe the
medium compatibility with elastomer.
- Has the maximum admissible adjusting screw distance been observed?

6 Operational test
LESER recommends assembling the safety valve on a test bench together with the pneumatic
lifting device H8. The operational test can also take place in the plant. During the operational test
the pressure at the inlet should be equivalent to the respective operating pressures. If the
operational test takes place with high pressures, appropriate safety measures have to be taken
during lifting. The operational test is passed, when the test medium discharges from the outlet or
the valve disc lifts visibly.
