​ I​ am a United States Army career counselor for the Fresno area. My military occupation
specialty is Fire Support Specialist, basically I conduct operations with front line troops like the
Infantry on a daily basis while deployed to combat zones. I have been in the United States Army
for 12 years now and have had the distinct pleasure to have served with some of America’s best.
Private Yakqueline Mendoza is one of America's best and I would like to write this
recommendation on her behalf.
I have had the pleasure of working with Private Mendoza since October 2018, when I first
met Private Mendoza she told me that she wanted to make her little sister proud first and
foremost, and she wanted to serve her country. Private Mendoza is a young women from
Merced California, she is about to graduate from El Capitan High School in June. During her
time at El Capitan High Private Mendoza participated on the Track and Field team she competes
in multiple events that include shot put, Discus, and a long distance runner. She has turned
down multiple scholarships for art to pursue her United States Army Career which is a testament
to the character of Private Mendoza.
Private Mendoza committed to the United States Army in 2017, but I did not get the honor
of meeting her until October of 2018. Private Mendoza studied extremely hard to score in the top
percentile of ASVAB scores. Private Mendoza fallows in her boyfriend Jesse Avalos footsteps
into the United States Army, she has 2 older brothers, an older sister, and a 12 year old little
sister that absolutely idolize and look up to her, she is setting an excellent example for her to
follow, she is graduating from High School and attending College as well as serving her country.
I would like to say that Private Mendoza is by far my most trusted Future Soldier, she
currently serves as Platoon Guide for our Future Soldiers Platoon of 53 Future Soldiers, and
some of her responsibilities include maintaining accountability and leading the platoon in
physical fitness training. I have been recruiting for two years now and have had the pleasure to
work with over 200 Future Soldiers and there is not one of them who I would more willing trust
my life to. Private Mendoza chose to become a MP ( Military Police) and I have no doubt that he
will be successful at whatever she puts her mind to and I know that I will have the pleasure to
one day work side by side with her on the frontlines.
Based on my experience Private Yakqueline Mendoza would be an outstanding candidate
for any position, job, task or any challenge. Her willingness to put others before herself and her
undying determination to accomplish any task will make her successful not just in the Army but
