RADICAL

ACCESS

ARTISTIC CO-DIRECTORS SUZANNE COSTELLO & STUART PIMSLER

Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater’s (SPDT) Radical Access is a PAY AS ABLE week-long residency.
Radical Access invites applicants to imagine new ways to engage their communities with SPDT’s
facilitation at a cost that fits the applicant’s needs.

We are now accepting applications for the 2019-20 school year!

Residency programs are flexible and can include such SPDT activities as:
• Theater for the Heart & Mind or Intentional Moments workshops for performing arts students
• The Artist as Citizen, an interdisciplinary creative process workshop
• Moving through Arts & Healthcare or Caring for the Caregiver workshops connecting
students in arts and health disciplines
• Culminating performance of SPDT repertory with potential student participation

“Hosting SPDT is such an honor and fits so well with our university and our vision - integrating
the arts and health, outreach to the community, and our culture of collaboration and compassion.”
- Dr. Jerry Benson, Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, James Madison University

Past Radical Access recipients include James Madison University (VA), Troy University (AL), Weber State
University (UT), and University of Alabama at Birmingham (AL).

SPDT’s community engagement programs have been cited by the National Endowment for the Arts for “Best
Practices,” and continue to provide artists with innovative techniques for working with all populations.
