Jagjit : My brother’s birthday is tomorrow. I am going to the department store to buy him a present.
Kim Seng : Wow, that’s great! What are you going to buy for him?
Jagjit : At first, I wanted to buy him a new backpack. The one he has now is old. I checked the prices
of backpacks in the mall and they are over my budget.
Jagjit : Oh , I have a budget of RM 50.00 for my brother’s present. I don’t want to spend more than
that. The type of backpack my brother likes cost at least RM 100. That is too expensive! However
his favourite singer just released a new CD . It is RM 49.90 . That’s within my budget.
Kim Seng : That’s great. Now I know how you spend wisely and save money.
Jagjit : A penny saved is a penny earned. It is always a good idea to have a budget when you
plan to buy things. I have to go now. See you tomorrow.

Task Procedures:
1. Shows relia to the pupils ( handbag, storybook).
2. Ask the pupils which item they like the most.
3. Ask the pupils to write their reasons on a piece of paper (in groups).
4. Teacher allows the pupils to share their reasons in classroom discussions.
5. Show pictures of the items (handbag, storybook).
6. Pupils read the descriptions.
7. Teacher asks the pupils to match the sentence strips with the descriptions.
8. Pupils copy the complete answers.

a sale there. They chose to buy some (thing, things) at the sale
because the offers were good. They bought two bottles of cooking (oil,

apples). They also bought a tube of (toothpaste, toothpastes), four
(toothbrush, toothbrushes), two (plate, plates), a (knife, knives) and five
(cup, cups).Pravin’s mother was very happy because they saved a lot
