CANDIDATES in Quezon City
and the Camanar,a atea failed to
dismantle political dynasties as
relatives of entrenched political
families vzere declared winners
yesterday.
In Quezon City, Vice Mayor
Joy Belmonte, daughter of former
QC mayor and 4th Distiict Rep.
Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte, won
by a margin of more than 1O0,000
votes over 1st district Rep. Vincent
"Bingbong" Crisologo in dre may-
oralty race.
Three othet Belmontes also
Christopher "Kit" Belmonte,
cousin of Joy, won as 6th disttict
representative; Mikey Belmonte,
nephew of Joy, won as one of the
six councilors of the 2nd district;
and Irene Belmonte, wife of the
cousin of Joy, vill also serve as
councilor for the city's 4th district,
Councilor Gian Sotto, son of
Senate President Vicente Sotte III,
won as the city's vice mayor. Fie is
not the only Sotto who will serve
the city as his sister, Doirella Maria
"Lala" Sotto, also won as one of
the six councilor of the city's 6th

Second district Rep. Winstbn
"Winnie" Castelo, a relative of
the Sottos. was elected one of the
councilors of the 2ndastritt i,til.
Winnie' wife Precious was elected
teptesentative of the city's 2nd
congrcssional district.

elected vice mayot while Bobby
Castelq brother of Winnie Castelq

In Caloocan City, Oscar Malapi-
tan was te-elected mayor, wh.ile his
son Dale Gonzalo Malapitan woo
as 1st district represenati.ie, and
his othe! son Viflcent Ryan Mala-
pitan was elected city councilor,
Malabon Mayor AntoLin "Len-
leo" Oreta, a cousin of formet
President Benigno Aquino III, was
te-elected vrhile his relatives Enzo
Oreta and Paulo Oera won as 2nd
