undisclosed assets inside and
outside  the  country  by pay-
ing just four percent taxes on
all  assets  other than  real  es-
tate.
The scheme would be ap-
plicable  till  June  30,  and  all
Pakistan  citizens,  other  than
those holding public offices or
their  dependents,  would  be
able  to  take  benefit  from  it,

Shisper Glacier thinning amid no
risk for glacial flooding: GBDMA
ISLAMABAD (APP):
Shisper  Glacier  has  started
thinnin g  with a  water  dis-
charge  of 200  cusecs  to  220
cusecs per day below the surg-
ing glacier which resulted in no
risk of glacial flooding.
“The water discharging is
most  probably  of the  glacial
lake formed at the Shisper Gla-
cier rolling since May 2018. It
is routine flow of water which
usually pours in summer sea-
son  at  400  cusecs,”  said  an
official of Gilgit Baltistan Di-
saster Management Authority
(GBDMA).
The  last satellite  images
received  by  Pakistan  Meteo-
rological  Department  (PMD)
show the glacial lake at Shisper
Glacier to be contracting which
had mitigated the disaster risk,
he added.
There might be two rea-
sons  for plummeting  size  of
the glacier: mainly under sur-
face discharge of water and the
upward movement along with
the penetration of the glacier
into lake which consequently
got submerged into the glacier,
the official said.

major rivers jumps
to 170,000 cusecs
ISLAMABAD  (APP):  Water
inflow in all major rivers has
significantly improved due to
slight  surge  in  mercury  level
and on  Tuesday  it  stood at
170,000 cusecs.
According to the data re-
leased by the Indus River Sys-
tem Authority (IRSA)  water
inflow in river Indus at Tarbela
was recorded as 48,900 cusecs
against  o utflow  of  55,000
cusecs.
Similarly, water inflow in
the  River  Jhelum  at  Mangla
was recorded as 44,300 cusecs
against  o utflow  of  70,000
cusecs. Water level in the Indus
River  at  Tarbela  Dam was
1406.88 feet, which was 20.88
feet higher than its dead level
of 1,386 feet. The water level
in the Jhelum River at Mangla
Dam was 1159.40 feet, which
was 119.40 feet higher than its
dead level of 1,040 feet.
The  release  of  water  at
Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur
was  reco rd ed as  93,500,
76,100 and 22,000 cusecs re-
spectively.

IHC reserves judgment in
Ghotki girls security case
ISLAMABAD  (APP):  The
Islamabad High Court (IHC)
Tuesday reserved  its  judg-
ment  on a  petition  regarding
provision of security to newly
married Ghotki  girls who  re-
cently converted to Islam.
Chief  Justice  Athar
Minallah  remarked  that  the
minority’s  rights  were  pro-
tected under Constitution like
other citizens.
During  course  of  pro-
ceeding, commission’s mem-
ber I.A  Rehman pleaded  be-
fore the bench that minorities
were unsecured in the whole
Sindh province. He stated that

eliminated  that  minorities  in
Pakistan were unsafe.

curity guard was martyred on the
spot by the firing of terrorists. How-
ever, after a comprehensive opera-
tion, the terrorists were killed.

ist attacks especially on the police,
to prevent, overcome and control
such attacks. A security plan or a
SOP (Standard Operating Proce-
dure) may be designed for each of-
ficer and employee from home to
their place of duty. Indeed, the
SOPs would have been already pre-
pared for individual and collective
security. If different types of SOPs
are already designed and available,
then ensure their implementation.
All the officers should be alert and
careful about their duty, who re-
sponsible for delivering, educating
and training their personnel. The
refresher training should also be ar-
ranged. So that they should be ac-
tive and alert during their duty.
They must not ignore any suspi-
cious person, bike, car, even a gar-
bage shopping bag. This can cer-
tainly prove to be helpful in elimi-
nation of terrorist incidents.
There are many problems being
faced by Policemen including post-
ing on far away stations, unavail-
ability of suitable time for rest, no
leave policy. In our opinion, Police
like other security agencies should
be kept away from politics and it
must be given complete financial
and administrative autonomy. Po-
lice department must also be ex-
tended more resources, political in-
tervention in posting and transfers
must be eliminated, it must not be
used for VVIPs duties as well as for
political purposes by political par-
ties. All above mentioned reforms
would empower Police department,
which will be helpful to establish
peace in the province. It will also end
a lot of complaints related to the po-
lice department.

Rukn-e-Alam mausoleum damaged by water seepage

MULTAN (APP):  The
world’s famous centuries old
monument, the mausoleum of
Hazrat  Shah  Rukn-e-Alam,
has been reported damaged at
its main entrance and needed
immediate  attention of  the
quarters concerned for neces-
sary repairs and conservation,
officials said on Tuesday.

that was declared the best con-

on outer and inner side of the
entrance gate.

damaged.
The  western  portion  of
the’Deorhi’ has bulged out and
surrounding  area  floor  sub-
sided.
The damaged part of the
structure may have  its  joints
loosened and any delay in its
repair and  conservation  may
expand the extent of damage
to the rest of the structure and
pose risk to lives.

Administrator Auqaf Multan
Ziaul  Mustafa  told APP  that
the matter was  in his knowl-

diately to end chances of fur-
ther  water  seepage  into  the
structure.
Moreover, he added that
the Auqaf Department has al-
ready  sent  a  proposal  to  the
Punjab government for expan-
sion of  the  mausoleum of
Hazrat  Shah  Rukn-e-Alam
from its main entrance gate to
the ablution point outside the
monument.
The  Rs 15  million  pro-
posal  included  expansion  of
monument  till  the  ablution
point, flooring  similar to  its
courtyard,  drainage  system,
reconstructio n of  ablution
place and toilet block, and in-
stallation of circular razor wire
on  top  of the  boundary  wall
for  security,  an Auqaf  Sub-
Engineer Azam Ali said, add-
ing that it would be taken up
in the fiscal year 2019-20, sub-
ject to approval.

Weekly inflation up by 1.16%
ISLAMABAD  (APP):  The
weekly  inflation for the
week ended on May 09, for
the  combined  income
group, witnessed  an in-
crease  of  1.16  percent  as
compared  to  the  previous
week.
The Sensitive  Price In-
dicator (SPI)  for  the  week
under  review  in  the  com-
bined  group  was  recorded
at  254.38  points against
251.47  points  registered  in
the  previous  week,  accord-
ing to the  latest  data of Pa-
kistan  Bureau  of  Statistics

Meanwhile,  the  infla-
tion  for  the  lowest  income
group  also  increased  from
230.67  points  in  last  week
to  233.19  points,  showing

ISLAMABAD  (APP):  The
exchange rate of Dollar in in-
terbank remained constant and
was traded at Rs 141.39, State
Bank  of  Pakistan  (SBP)  re-
ported on  Tuesday.
However  according  to
Forex Association of Pakistan
the buying and selling rates of
dollar in open market were re-
corded  at  Rs143.20  and Rs
143.95.
The SBP reported that in
interbank the price of Euro in-
creased by 13 paisa after which
it  was  traded  at  Rs158.94  as
compared  to  the  last  closing
at  Rs  158.81.  The  price  of
Japanese yen remained constant
at Rs 1.28, whereas the decrease
of 87 paisa was witnessed in ex-

IHA ranks Pak 3rd in the
world for newly installed
hydropower capacity

its recently issued report titled

its Exploratory cum appraisal Well Mangrio # 01 in Nim Block,

has 95% share in the Block and is the operator with 5 % share
holding of Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL).
The Structure of Mangrio Well # 01 was delineated drilled
and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise. The well was

10.44 MMSCFD gas, 120 BPD condensate through choke size

tion Report (FIR) of the Mini
Market Blast, Quetta was filed
at  a  Counter  Terrorism  De-
partment (CTD)  police  sta-
tion on Tuesday.
The case was lodged on
the complaint of the Satellite
Town Police Station SHO un-
der terrorism  charges  of  ter-
rorism, murder and attempt to
murder  against  unknown  at-
tackers.
At  least  four policemen
were  martyred while  12  oth-
ers were said to be injured as
an  improvised  explosive  de-
vice  (IED)  exploded  in the
city’s  Mini Market  area.
