4 Years of Progress
The past 4 years of high school have flown by, between the hard classes, late nights
studying, and friday night games I don’t think I am ready to leave Merced High School yet. This
place has taught me to try new things, be spontaneous, STUDY and STUDY HARD, it has
taught me that everything in life isn’t going to come easy. Freshman year everything in the
classroom came slightly easy to me, I had been a straight A student until high school. My first
couple of years here I struggled with Spanish class, I wasn’t aware I had to take a foreign
language which meant 0 english. I didn’t take any AP classes until my junior and senior year.
Going through my transcripts I feel as if I have improved. Math has and will forever be a
difficult class for myself, and throughout high school I have accepted the fact that I don’t need an
A in math class. This year I have pushed myself and enrolled into AP stats, and I do struggle in
that class but it is preparing me for my future classes, and I am glad that I am in it. As my years
went on difficulties of school would come in waves, I would completely be struggling some days
and others I would be doing work for weeks in advance. My grades mean a lot to me and I am
one to constantly be on top of my aeries, and during the years I have come to the conclusion that
I am going to get what I put into it, and that has always been a big deal to me.
Going from junior year to taking one AP class to coming into senior year taking 3 was
really hard to take in and made me beyond nervous. As the end of the year is approaching last

semester I have ended with a 4.3 GPA and honestly I was and still so proud of myself. I always
thought I wasn’t smart enough for AP classes let alone 3 of them. But I am staying on top of
them and getting my work done in the classroom. School is always first, despise the boyfriend,
As senior year comes to an end I want to be satisfied with where I am when I leave here.
Whether it be my grades, attendance, tardies, sports, etc. I want to leave my mark at Merced
High and always be proud of how I left it. Throughout my 4 years I have had 5 tardies, and that
is amazing considering people get 5 tardies a week. My attendance is great, all excused with no
truencies. I feel as all of these things say a lot about me as a person. It shows that I am
hardworking, and committed to my school work. Being at school and on time is what is expected
of myself, parents, and teachers. I want others and my future kids to look up to me as a good
example and be a good role model, and I think my 4 years to current time I have done a pretty
good job here at Merced High. Not the best of the best, but the best of the best in my eyes.
