One symptoms of intellectual disability is having problem-remembering things. Lennie forgets

everything that George tells him. I anit gonna say nothing just stand there he repeated to himself.
I chose this quote because Lennie always forgets things and never remembers them. Intellectual
disabilities have more side effects. (not being able to live on their own, low iq, needs constant
supervision)
RUNNING HEAD RESEASRCH PAPER 3

The first thing about intellectual disability is trouble understanding his or her actions like when Lennie and
Curlyes wife where in the barn together Lennie said I like to pet soft things. Curlyes wife said I have soft
hair want to fell it Lennie started to pet her hair and she was trying to pull away and Lennie didn’t want to
let go and Lennie killed her by breaking her neck. Lennie was panicking. his face was scared she started to
scream ,and Lennie’s hand went to her head to her mouth and nose in seconds and then his other hand went
over her waist and picked her up and told her to be quiet or George would be mad at me. (Steinbeck 99).
Lennie went into a panic mode and started to choke Curley’s wife. Lennie did not want to let go and Lennie
killed Curley’s wife *_*. This effect can cause many problems its one of the dangerous effects of having
intellectual disability. Its dangerous and can cause many problems and it could even kill someone. People
who have Lennie’s disability can have other side effects as well.

The second symptom is needs support to solve everyday problems. Lennie want to be with him all the time
and be there for him. “I got you to look after me and you got me to look after you (Steinbeck 7). In this
quote it explains that Lennie wants George to be here for him and to look after him all the time. People with
this intellectual disability always need someone to be there for them and to always support them no matter
what. After all, friendship is important. They do have the support in their life but working together they
will always get through it.

The third symptom with intellectual disability is having trouble remembering things. Lennie forgets where
he and gorge were going in the beginning of the book. “tried and tried ,but it didn’t do any good .But I do
remember about the rabbits… George (Steinbeck 4).in this quote Lennie forgets stuff that George tells him
but Lennie will always remember about them rabbits he can tend. People with this intellectual disability
will have trouble remembering things no matter how many times a person can say it them. Just like Lennie
forgets everything that George tells him. After all, people who are diagnosed with these intellectual
disabilities will forget things that people tell them.
