We read an excerpt from The House on Mango Street in class in which Esperanza discusses the history
of her name and what it means to her. Everyone’s name is unique! For this writing prompt, you will write one
paragraph about your name, explaining what your name is and how it reflects the person you are today. There
are no right or wrong answers as long as you are writing! Write one paragraph that explains what your name is
and describes how it reflects the person you are today.

We are going to complete this prompt following the writing process. First, we will prewrite to gather
