Brown Bear

Book
What a better way to learn colors than with the famous children’s book
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? I first created this Brown
Bear Texture Book as part of a color theme when teaching Kindergarten.
Every page of the book uses a different medium, so the end result will be
a homemade Brown Bear book full of art experiences!

How to Assemble the Book

I would recommend mounting this
project in a 1/2 inch 3-ring binder with
sheet protectors. This will keep all the
different textures from falling off with
repeated readings (and who wants to
be continually vacuuming coffee grounds
off the couch)! I also printed these off
on cardstock, making it more durable
for painting and gluing activities.
Do you have a problem with this picture?

Yeah, me too. hehe. If you have a little one doing this and would
like to relax during the creating process, yet still read the words when
they’re finished, here’s a tip for you. (From a recovering perfectionist
Mama, hehe). Print off a version with images on draft mode for them
to create on, When it dries, cut it out, and glue it onto the text-only
version. Taaddaaahh! Problem solved.

looking at me.” 1.
In this packet, you will find:
• The complete Brown Bear book with images - Cursive version
• The complete Brown Bear book with text only - Cursive version
• Extra pages for alternate spelling, grey - Cursive version

I wanted a version that included all the colors, so I took the liberty to
add a pink pig and gray mouse page. Now that we are homeschooling,
I had to add a multi-level option so that everyone in the family could
participate. So next came the text-only version in case older children
would like to illustrate their own version. Some people also have
preferences for how to spell gray/grey, and so I wanted to include all of
the various options for you to pick and choose what works best for you.

Below is a list of suggested materials if you would like to use the same
mediums we did, however, feel free to use whatever you can find in your
home. The point is to have fun with it!
