move. Lastly, why is this

that we are forced to ask this

Nasir, Director General Moni-

According to the data re-
leased by IRSA, water level in
the Indus River at Tarbela
Dam was 1407.50 feet, which
was 21.50 feet higher than its
dead level of 1,386 feet.
Water inflow in the dam
was recorded as 45,300 cusecs
while outflow as 55,000
cusecs.
The water level in the
Jhelum River at Mangla Dam
was 1160.55 feet, which was
120.55 feet higher than its
dead level of 1,040 feet whereas
the inflow and outflow of wa-
ter was recorded as 42,900

Interior Ministry was also
looking after the issues related
to refugees and when required,
stations of Islamabad within
24 hours. But these all cases
related to drug users and no
one among them was drug
peddler.

The CSS exam can attempted in Urdu
Urdu and national
identity
Yesterday, a resolution has been passed in
the Senate, allowing candidates the option
to attempt the CSS exams in Urdu along with
English. The resolution was presented by
Senator Siraj ul Haq in the House. In the
resolution, it was asked to take the exami-
nation of the Central Superior Services in
Urdu instead of English. The Minister of
State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali
Mohammad Khan said that CSS has 45 op-
tional and 6 compulsory subjects, the com-
pulsory subjects are taught in the Universi-
ties in English. So the selection of language
must be optional. In the House, Senator
Sirajul Haq expressed his views in the House,
saying that according to the report of the
Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC),
only 5% of the candidates pass the compul-
sory subjects. Constitution is a sacred docu-
ment, according to which, within 15 years,
the Urdu language has to be imposed as offi-
cial language. But Urdu could not be en-
forced as the official language, though 70
years have passed. He said that our children
learn 5 languages. China, Japan and other
countries have developed due to national
language. We are a free and sovereign na-
tion. Urdu is a vast language, which has
many words from different languages. By
conducting competitive competition in
Urdu, we can prosper. Chairman Senate said
that we make Urdu as an optional language
in the resolution. Later the resolution with
option of Urdu along with English was
unanimously passed. Every nation needs a
few signs for its own identity. The language
has a great deal of identity for a nation. Pa-
kistan has a strong and stable federation
consisting of four provinces and its national
language is Urdu. In all the four provinces,
Urdu is spoken and understood equally. So
it the source of national unity and solidar-
ity. Autonomous and honorable nations al-
ways keep their culture and their language
on top priority as well as value and respect
their language. The nations in the world,
who have developed rapidly in advancement,
have always preferred their culture and na-
tional language. It cannot be denied that
English and other international languages
have their own importance for communica-
tion with the world. We should not leave them
as it will retrograde us in international re-
lations, Science, Arts and Technology. But,
our national language has its own impor-
tance and utility. As other developed coun-
tries always prefer to their national language
in every affair. According to UNESCO figures,
the most spoken and understood languages
in the world are Chinese and English and
Urdu is the 3rd largest language of the world.
Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam
Muhammad Ali Jinnah had said in a public
meeting in 1948 “I want to make it clear
that the official language of Pakistan will be
Urdu and only Urdu”. Along with the Con-
stitution of 1973 it was also passed that the
country’s national language will be Urdu.
While authorizing Urdu as official language
it will open the path to Government’s corre-
spondence and rules. Concept of reward and
punishment is present in every society,
people who do good deeds are rewarded and
a person doing some crime is punished. This
concept has been almost ended in our soci-
ety just because of English being official lan-
guage in our country. A common man is
paralyzed in everyday affairs of Government
departments, Judicial and Courts for being
in English, which he cannot write, speak
and understand. One of the major reason for
lawlessness in the country is that the pub-
lic is unaware of the national laws. So how
can they be able to get and protect their
rights? For peaceful Pakistan, it is neces-
sary to declare Urdu as the official language
so that people may act upon after under-
standing the rules of the country. Since no
any country can develop without peace and
harmony. A committee, headed by Former
Chief Justice Jawad S Khawaja along with
Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and Justice
Faez Isa, had decided to implement Urdu as
official language. Previously, it was passed
to impose in all Government organizations.
A bill passed on the subject approved that
the President and the Prime Minister will
make their speeches in the national lan-
guage Urdu while visiting abroad. We urge
Prime Minister Imran Khan to ensure imple-
mentation of Urdu language while ordering
to publish all the Government and Semi-Gov-
ernmental policies, rules and regulations in
Urdu, all the forms should be provided in
Urdu along with English. Similarly, in order
to guide the places of all public importance,
the board should be displayed in Urdu, while
the Passport Office, Income Tax, AGPR, Au-
ditor General, WAPDA, Sui Gas, and all the
relevant documents and correspondence as
well as the driving license and utility bills
should also be printed in Urdu. Moreover,
all data on passports must be written in Urdu.
To ensure imparting knowledge to or-
dinary citizen, as per right to access to in-
formation, websites of all the Government
departments must be converted into Urdu.
