Access to regular curriculum

NOT a special education type.

Challenges/Strengths and Contributions of Learners

Students may struggle with ability to keep up in lessons, but a 504 plan makes it so plans are helpful
and followed.

Students may struggle with getting assignments done as quickly as others. They get
accomodations to help better their education, and are often not noticed by peers. They are still
capable students, they just need a bit more access.

These students still need education.

Strategies for teaching the learner / Learning environment needed to be successful

They need their extra accommodations that help them to reach their fullest potential and succeed in
a high regard.
It is extraordinarily important for students to receive the accommodations that they requested.

Reflection:
● How has your perception of diverse learners grown/changed from your perspective as a student?
I have seen that students may be just as smart, if not more smart, when they’re given their accommodations,
this is in no way a disability.

● What does this mean for you as a future teacher by reflection on Colorado Department of Education,
Colorado Teacher Quality Standard II: ​ Teachers establish a safe, inclusive and respectful learning
environment for a diverse population of students?
As a future teacher, I will need to be amicable to possible changes and make sure that my students are
getting help to that they can reach their academic potentials. I will need to fully understand the
accommodations that the students need, and will need to help them to the best of my ability.
