Step Two- Project Proposal

Project Proposal: Augmented Reality (AR)/Artificial Intelligence (AI) Application

& Device Reading Assistant

SBAR of the proposed technology changed

This technology is in line with the health care organization’s mission, vision and values as it has
the potential to greatly assist already overworked physicians, clinicians, nurses, admin and staff
in the daily reading material that they are require intake. The app also has the ability to
translate to the patient side which can integrate with their portal and hospital patient
knowledge management application.

Doctors are particularly swamped with reading, research, and daily deluge of information they
need to intake in order to stay on top of their field. Such an application (still in the
design/development phase) would augment the doctor (or nurse, admin, staff) in assisting their
ability to rapidly intake vast sums of medical/health care information and data with the use of
this augmented reality and artificial intelligence application. It can be installed in a phone,
handheld device, tablet or even (eventually) glasses (ala Google Glass) or other wearable
device.

This device/application would increase physician, nurse, admin and staff productivity and
reduce burnout overall across the entire health care organization.

Stakeholder Assessment:

Board of Directors: Appeased as the main physicians, clinicians, and nurses will have their
workloads eased by the applications and devices and decrease burnout, turnover and increase
productivity.

C-Level Management: Satisfied as the main physicians, clinicians, and nurses will have their
workloads eased by the applications and devices and decrease burnout, turnover and increase
productivity.

Doctors: Enthusiastic in that they can receive digital assistance in their workloads, reduce
stress, fatigue, and burnout.

Clinicians, Nurses, Admin and Staff: The technology can assist them in all their reading and
data intake.
Patients: Can assist them (in a 2.0 version) in helping them with understanding health care
jargon and reading for their treatments.

Change Management & Acceleration Plan:

The first step would be to allocate budgets for development, and then budgets for devices &
installation, training and troubleshooting. Akin to the installation and adoption of an EHR (but
MUCH smaller and cheaper) all the same protocols and security standards would apply. So one
would only have to alter the existing software and device policy. The roll-out would be the
same but on a much faster and compressed timeline.

Conflict Analysis Scenarios & Mitigation:

Conflict: Potential upfront costs for the application and devices

Mitigation: A cost benefit analysis should be done to calculate increased productivity savings
and lower burnout rates among doctors, clinicians and staff with the potential assistance of
such a technology.

Conflict: Potential security issues in issuing handheld devices (organization issued phone,
tablets and glasses) that have the app installed.

Mitigation: The usual security protocols and threat management procedures for organizational
hardware apply.
