The removal and replacement procedures included in this section share several character-
istics: The operating voltages and the weight of the monitor represent specific hazards.
WARNING The system contains hazardous voltages that can range from
90 VAC to 264 VAC and cause serious injury or death.
¹ Only authorized service personnel are permitted to
remove protective covers and access the energized
components of this system.
A Spare Part Catalog (SPC) has been established on the Internet at the following URL:

The installation of a spare part employs the reverse sequence provided for the disassembly
and removal procedure.
This procedure describes the removal and installation of the ACUSON X300™ ultrasound
system covers.

System Preparations 0
1. Press the Power button on the Control Panel to power off the system.
2. Switch the Main Circuit Breaker of the to Off.
3. Disconnect the system power cord from the external power source.
4. Maintain a minimum of 3.5 feet (1.70 Meters) clearance while working on the system.
Perform the following steps to remove the tray box from the system.
Perform the following steps to remove the left cover of the system.
1. Remove the air filter from the left side of the system.

2. Loosen the two (2) TH half screws from the left cover.
Perform the following steps to remove the right cover of the system.
1. Loosen the two (2) TH half screws at the bottom of the right cover.
Perform the following steps to remove the rear cover of the system.
1. Remove the right and left covers, see (Removing the Left Cover / p. 12) and (Remov-
ing the Right Cover / p. 15).
2. Loosen the six (6) TH washer screws.
- There are three (3) screws on each side of the rear cover.

Perform the following steps to remove the front cover of the system.
1. Remove the left and right covers, see (Removing the Left Cover / p. 12) and (Remov-
ing the Right Cover / p. 15).
2. Loosen the six (6) TH washer screws.
- There are three (3) screws on each side of the front cover.

Perform the following steps to remove the top cover of the system.
1. Loosen the four (4) TH screws at the edge of the top cover.

Perform the following steps to remove the CP rear cover of the system.

Use the following instructions to remove and replace the 15 inch monitor. There are 4 types
of 15 inch monitors and 1 type of 17 inch monitor available for the ACUSON X300™ ultra-
sound system. Determine whether the system has a 15 inch, or a 17 inch monitor, and use
the appropriate procedure.

Approximately 30 minutes.

1. Press the Power button on the Control Panel to power off the system.
2. Switch the Main Circuit Breaker to Off.
3. Disconnect the system power cord from the external power source.
4. Maintain a minimum of 3.5 feet (1.70 Meters) clearance while working on the system.
1. Lock the monitor by pushing and turning the arm lock knob clockwise.
4. Remove the four (4) PWH screws that attach the monitor cables.
6. Unfasten the two (2) PWH screws and remove the monitor cable cover.
NOTE While removing the monitor, keep the shaft monitor rotation
level with the front of the monitor arm.
Replace the monitor using the reverse sequence of the procedure provided for the removal.
NOTE Use Loctite 243 for holding the SBH bolt when replacing the
monitor.
Use the following instructions to remove and replace the 17 inch monitor. There are 4 types
of 15 inch monitors. and 1 type 17 inch monitor available for the ACUSON X300™ ultra-
sound system. Determine whether the system has a 15 inch, or a 17 inch monitor, and use
the appropriate procedure.

4. Maintain a minimum of 3.5 feet (1.70 Meters) clearance while working on the system.
1. Lock the monitor by pushing and turning the arm lock knob clockwise.
4. Remove the four (4) PWH screws that attach the monitor cables.
NOTE While removing the monitor, keep the shaft monitor rotation
level with the front of the monitor arm.
This section describes the steps required to replace the 17 inch monitor.
1. Have someone hold the monitor while inserting the SBH bolt in place. Apply Loctite 243
on thread ends of bolt. Tighten the bolt.
NOTE Use Loctite 243 for holding the SBH bolt when replacing the
monitor.
2. Connect the three (3) cables from the monitor as shown below.
4. Install the pinch cover and install the two (2) screws to secure the pinch cover in place.

to gain access to the bottom of the Control Panel Neck.
This procedure describes the removal and replacement of the Arm Lock Assembly.
1. Rotate the Knob of the Arm Lock Assembly to the Unlock position.
2. Remove the (5) screws located on the bottom of the CP neck and remove the CP Neck
cover.
4. Remove the (4) screws securing the Arm Lock Assembly to the Control Panel Neck and
pull down the Arm Lock Assembly to separate it from the Control Panel.
1. Install the Arm Lock Assembly into the Control Panel Neck.
NOTE Before installing the Arm Lock Assembly, extend the Shaft
Lock upward for ease of assembly. Refer to figure below.
1. Power off the system and switch the MAIN switch to OFF; leave the power cord con-
nected to the wall outlet.

ACUSON X300 PE system. This is available at the rear side of
the CD/DVD-R/RW.

installing the AC power try on a system with different power requirements, such as 110

- Loosen one screw of the sheet metal cover, located at the rear of the AC Power Tray,
to get access to the voltage switch.
- Set the voltage switch position.
- Fasten the screw of the sheet metal cover to hide the voltage switch.
2. Replace the AC power supply. Use the revers procedures described in (Removing the
AC/DC Power Supply / p. 156). Refer to the following figure for the cable connections.

1. Install the DC/DC Power Supply using the reverse sequence of the replacement proce-
dures.
2. Make sure that the DC/DC Power Supply connectors are tightly attached to the connec-
tor on Electronic module.

1. Power off the system and set the MAIN switch to OFF.
2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
3. Remove the AC/DC Power Supply, see (Removing the AC/DC Power Supply / p. 156).
4. Remove the (6) PH screws that attach the AC/DC power fan to the supply frame.
- There are three screws on each side of the AC/DC power fan.
- Use a 4 mm Allen wrench to remove the screws
WARNING When the (6) screws securing the frame are removed, the
frame can fall free. Securely hold the frame in place to pre-
vent the frame from falling and being damaged.

5. Remove the cables and cable-tie from the AC Power Fan.

To replace the AC/DC Power Fan; follow in reverse sequence the procedures of removal.

Grasp the rear side of the transducer holder, and pull downward to remove.
CAUTION Verify that the transducer holder locks into place on the side
of the Control Panel.
¹ Failure to do so may cause the transducer holder to
disengage from the system, dropping the transducer to
the floor and possibly damaging the transducer.
Use the instructions in this section to remove and replace the cables on the system.

1. Power off the system and set the MAIN switch to OFF; leave the power cord connected
to the wall outlet.
2. Remove the monitor; see (Removing the Monitor / p. 27).
3. Remove the monitor arm covers; see (Removing the Monitor Arm Covers / p. 44).
4. Remove the control panel; see(Removing the Control Panel / p. 63).
5. Remove the right, left and front covers; see (Removing the Right Cover / p. 15),
(Removing the Left Cover / p. 12), and (Removing the Front Cover / p. 19).
6. Remove the rear cover, the top cover and the CP rear cover; see (Removing the Rear
Cover / p. 17), (Removing the Top Cover / p. 21), and (Removing the CP Rear
Cover / p. 23).
7. Cut the cable ties at the marked locations.
8. Remove the five (5) screws beneath the CP neck to remove the CP neck cover from the
CP neck.
12. Lift the control panel base to separate it from the main frame.
15. Lift the roller outer a little and cut the cable tie on the roller inner.
17. Cut the cable ties located on the right side of the main frame.

23. Pull the electronic module outward to remove the electronic module from the main
frame.
27. Pull out the three snap rivets located on the inner and the two on the outer of the front
main frame. Then remove the frame cable bracket from the main frame.

28. Pull out the cables through the hole located on the main frame.
NOTE Use Loctite 271 for holding the HSH bolts when replacing the
System Cables.
Perform the reverse sequence of the procedure provided for the removal. Refer to the fol-
lowing figures for the cable routing and tying.
1. Tie the cables on the roller inner. Ensure that there is adequate cable length for the fully
raised control panel base.
