1 Project Overview
2.1 Brief
Building on the lectures and tutorial exercises, create a motion graphics project that clearly and in an
engaging manner relates detailed statistical information in an illustrative and data friendly presentation. The
objective is to clearly communicate changes in statistical data supplied through the Australian Bureau of
Statistics (ABS) http://www.abs.gov.au/ . Information needs to come from the ABS site and you must state
this somewhere within the project. You can use additional Statistics sites if required
You will apply this information to one of the following a not for profit organisation, a company or government
organisation. You will need to supply an ending with contact information and corporate devices.
This motion design work should be imaginative, illustrative, typographic, numeric, symbol, the style and
interpretation should be appropriate to the subject matter.
The work will reflect the skills and concepts developed throughout the semester and provide a means of
personal expression.
The work must be created in Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and other technologies as
appropriate.
Images, music and sound effects can be used to create appropriate effect eg clarity of message, drama etc.
Please make sure copyright considerations are observed.
There are no imposed design limitations except for the mentioned technical specifications and
considerations below.
2.3 Considerations

Dimensions 1920x1080 pixels: duration 60 seconds
Workbook
Content must include:
Research, scripts, sketches, storyboards, style inspiration, style frames, sequence stills, references.
(minimum 11 pages)
A4 horizontal format (210h x 297w)

Due to the constantly changing nature of multimedia design technologies and applications, up to
date reading guides and examples will be distributed via Blackboard
This assignment is taught using a Project-based learning methodology. Via in-class consultation,
your Lecturer will guide and direct your enquiries in this area of study. The project is related to a real
life, design-industry outcome. You are expected to organize your own work and manage your
workload in class, and outside. A wide exploration of tools, techniques and innovations in form and
content should be explored, and integrated into your submission.
