CONCLUSION

From the result that we have obtained, the objective was achieved which was to measure
the concentration of COD in water sample. Based on the result, the value of sample 1 was 440
mg/L while for sample 2 was 1887 mg/L. The sample 2 was higher than sample 1 because
sample 2 was taken from drain water at Dataran Cendikia (DC) while sample 1 from Tasik
Seksyen 7.

According to the National water quality standards for Malaysia, both samples were in
class V because the value was above than 100 mg/L. The higher the value of COD the sample
water was harmful because the decrease oxygen demand and also the higher chemical in water.
When the oxygen decrease, the aquatic and plant will die due to the chemical substances. So that,
the plant could not supply oxygen to the living life.

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) was measure of the capacity of water to consume
oxygen during the decomposition of organic matter and the oxidation inorganic chemicals such
as ammonia and nitrite. COD includes both biodegradable and non-biodegradable substances
whereas BOD contains only biodegradable.
