1. Presentation
Present the lesson through the following
Strategy 1.

Ina went to the market. She bought a 0.9687 kilogram of chicken breast,
1.2466 kg of papaya and 0.25 kg of sweet pepper, and 0.0345 kg of ginger. How
many kilograms did she buy in all?

Lead the pupils to generalize
How do we add or subtract decimals or mixed decimal through ten thousandths?

Decimals are added and subtracted in the same way as a whole numbers.
When two decimals are added together or subtracted from each other, the decimal
points must be vertically aligned and the digits written in the correct value column.

5. Applying to New and Other Situation

Marjorie is celebrating their fiesta, she’s planning to cook valenciana. She went
to the market and buy the ingredients. She bought 2 kilograms of malagkit worth
Php350.5780, 1.2 kilograms of pork which costs Php230.3654, 0.500 grams shrimp
costing Php160.5430 and other ingredients which amounting to Php180.3750. How
much is her change if she has brought with her Php1 500.00?
