TECHNICAL DEFINITION OF THE TITLE

Fish port

In an operational approach, a fishing port serves as an industrial zone for loading, processing, storage and marketing fish as well as for maintaining and servicing the fishing fleet.

aquaculture Is the cultivation of aquatic animals and plants, especially fish, shellfish, and seaweed, in natural or controlled marine or freshwater environments, underwater agriculture.

Statement of the problem

There are existing regional fish port complex in the country and several municipal fish ports, however, existing port facilities which have been operating for more no less than 20 years, are deteriorating. This study aims to answer the following questions:

How will architecture provide a strategic and globally competitive fishery post-harvest infrastructure and facilities?

What should be done to design necessary port infrastructure and facilities that could withstand the impacts of climate change and other hazard scenarios?

How will the proposed project achieve an effective and sustainable fishery infrastructure and facilities?

Objectives of the study

To implement ecological rehabilitation, space, combined with features such as tours, cultural education and leisure in an attempt to make fishing port to an adaptive reuse free space.

To reform the designs of existing fish ports into a sustainable one that offers a quality environment for the users and the marine environment.

To provide a fishing society that will empower the fisherfolk to both traditional and new marine industries that will help the local economy to stabilize and grow.

The landing quay is where the fish landing operation takes place. The distance between the landing quay should be as short as possible for efficient handling. The landing quay should be moderately smooth so it will not be slippery when it is wet. Bollards with 10 meter interval and rigs/hooks shall be available.

Berthing Quay

The berthing quay is where the fishing gears are taken out for repair. In the calculation of berthing quay, 3 to 4 row of boats hall be considered depending upon the factors like wind, wave, size and dimensions of the vessels.

Following are the requirements of a commercial harbor: storage sheds for cargo, good and quick repair facilities to avoid any delay, long and large quays to make loading and unloading of cargo and facilities for transporting easier and quicker, sufficient accommodation for the commercial marine, large accommodation for the commercial marine, well and enough sheltered conditions for loading and unloading.
