Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
 1. One of the reasons why I do not study English before is because in the place I live
there is no opportunity for a bilingual academy or an English course.

2. One of the reasons why I did not study English before was because I did not have
any time at all because I have many classes.

3. Another reason was because in elementary and secondary English was too basic,
and you do not learn because all the years give you exactly the same and did not pass
the subject.

4. One of the main reasons was because at the beginning I did not understand very
well and I was frustrated too, because I made it online.

5. And the other reason was because I was lazy not understanding I felt that I was
losing my time.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.
 1. If I had learned English before, I would have gone on a scholarship to study in
Boston for eight months, some time ago in my town I came offering these
scholarships and the requirement was to present an exam which would pass, but the
other requirement was to speak English, but unfortunately my level was very low.

2. If I had learned it before, the ridiculous thing would not have happened when I was
a child in the United States, when people started talking to me.

3. If I had learned it since I was a child I would have developed my logical and
emotional reasoning skills.

4. I would have had a better education in the sense of learning more languages
because it would have been easier, because you retain more information when you
are a child.

5. Since childhood my self-esteem would have been high, and I would have had a
great personal improvement.

B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more

satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English
is the most important language.
