Medical care for minority women
According to Washington’s Post if you’re a woman of color in this country, you are about

three out four times higher to die during or after child birth. Most doctors tend to believe African

American women less when they tell them about their pain. “It’s nothing personal it’s just we

hesitate because were not sure if there is something really going on,” Often different cultures

may not be as vocal or demonstrative or assertive about their pain. Being vocal if you’re a

woman of color is not always your best benefit. In fact, the least favored patient is an African

American woman, while the favored patient is a white male roughly between the ages 25-44.

(Schuster,2012)

The reason for high rates of deaths, diseases and so on, is because African American’s

are given a lower dosage of whatever medication they are given. African American people lead

in heart diseases, stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes. But, since African American people in

general are viewed as drug addicts and exaggerators. So, some doctors feel as though they are

helping. But having a low dosage of medication can often make the situation worse.

However, some of the reason’s doctors are hesitant for giving the necessary medical

treatments are because some patients are just angry or disruptive and it is difficult or impossible

to communicate. Sometimes patients place unrealistic responsibility on their doctors and blame

doctors for lack of improvement but isn’t doing anything to help get better. Other times there are

patients filing lawsuits. Some doctors are just frustrated because this frequently happen. About 2

out of 5 patients sue their doctors.

Most of the time it has something to do with your insurance. A lot of the time us doctors

will not accept certain insurance as payments because in some states its illegal. Other times it

would be because the patient never paid the last bill that they were charged with from a previous

visit.

Research states that there are over 38 million of Americans that are uninsured and

majority of that number being African Americans. The reason for that is because most insurance

ties in with jobs. And the rate of unemployment for African Americans are higher than white

Americans. Another reason could be because insurance is so high people can’t afford to pay it.

The Center for Disease Control states a significant gap between African Americans with health

insurance. (CDC,2010)

A study shown by New England’s Journal of Medicine that regardless of their

background, education, and income. White Americans that seek treatment for various of health

issues, significantly receive better care than African Americans.

African American men go through the same thing just not as often as the African

American women. African American women have much more things to go to a doctor about

however they would rather suck it up unless its an emergency.

However, not all doctors are like this. There are many doctors in this world that love with

they do and not see just color. People are not born a racist, they are taught to be a racist. Many

people in this world would rather do their job and be happy. But unfortunately, the world is a

cold place.
