Dear Sir/Madam

This is to inform your good office that the following are the course description of the
subjects taken by Ruth Aida R. Ravillas in this institution.

Course Title: Introduction to Computer Science

Course Code: CS011A
Credit: 6 units

Course Description:
It deals with the essential theoretical concepts of the computer system. It focuses also on
a different number system as well as the computer system organization. The second part deals
more on the windows application like word processing and spread sheet and the last part will
be about the Internet.

Course Title: Fundamentals of Programming

Course Code: CS011B
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
This course will give the students an overview of the fundamentals of logic
formulation and design with Unified Modeling Language (UML). It will serve as a foundation
course for future courses that the students will encounter throughout the 4-year Computer
Science program. This is coupled with a laboratory component using Visual Basic.

Course Title: Computer Architecture with Assembly Language Programming

Course Code: CS012
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
An introduction to the organization and structuring of the major hardware components
of computer; a presentation of the mechanics of information transfer and control within a
computer system.

Course Title: Operation System

Course Code: CS013
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
This Course is about the concepts, Structure and mechanisms of operating systems and
its organization. It also deals with its purpose to present, as clearly as possible, the nature and
characteristics of modern-day operating systems.

Course Title: Computer System Organization

Course Code: CS014
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
This course covers the laws of computer organization and design for RISC/CISC
architectures. Interfaces between hardware and software are studied. Influence of instruction
set on performance is presented. Design of a processor, computer arithmetic, memory hierarchy
and their influence on performance are documented. Elements of interfacing and I/O
organization are included. The course has a design, implementation, and analytical
components. Lastly, this course introduces the student to machine organization and structure,
data representation, digital logic, and assembly language programming.

Course Title: Automata Theory/ Formal Language & C.T.

Course Code: CS016
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
This course covers the theoretical framework of Computer Science which has evolved
from disciplines like mathematics and engineering. The fundamental concepts and
theories of computation such as abstract machines and languages, finite automata, context
free languages, Turing machines and regular expressions are also discussed.

Course Title: Logic Design and Switching Theory

Course Code: CS017
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
Basic digital concepts and terminology, digital fundamentals, traditional approaches to
sequential circuits and combinational circuits.

Course Title: Structure of Programming Language and Computer Design

Course Code: CS018
Credit: 3 units with Laboratory

Course Description:
A study of PASCAL Programming Language. Student will write programs which
illustrates the use of PASCAL as a problem solving language. Structured programming
techniques is stressed.

Course Title: Data Structures

Course Code: CS019
Credit: 3 units
Prerequisite: CSC 111B

Course Description:
Linear data structures such as arrays, stacks, queues, linked list, non linear data
structures such as generalized lists, trees and graphs, operation on these structures algorithms
such as deletion, insertions and travel sales, elementary complexity analysis.
Course Title: Principles of Database Management System
Course Code: CS021
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
The course covers the basic theories behind databases, database design and data models.
The course will tackle different data models but will concentrate mainly on relational databases,
being the most commonly used today. The course introduces the students to concepts on the
design of databases using the Entity-Relationship (ER) model, relational model, relational
database design and query design. This course introduces the use of MS Access 2007 software
and MS Visual Basic programming language as database management system tools.
Course Title: Digital Design
Course Code: CS022
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
It deals with the study of the design of digital instruments and devices. It helps the
students to know the use of gates to simplify the designs of combinational functions. It will also
guide students to use simple sequential circuits, standard counters, shift registers, clock/timers
and family logic. Identify the functions of microcomputer so that software development can be
made simple, flexible and user friendly.

Course Title: Object Oriented Program

Course Code: CS023
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
This course provides an introduction to the concepts and methodology of Object-
Oriented Programming with Java as an illustration language. Students’ previous exposure to
and skills in structured programming is assumed (although a review of the necessary basic
programming notions is included)
Course Title: Principles of File Organization
Course Code: CS025
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
This course is about the algorithms and data structures used to access data in secondary
memory. The course also provides students an introduction to database systems. This
introduction will focus on learning a leading commercial DBMS (such as Microsoft’s SQL
Server) and its SQL dialect (Transact SQL). This is in preparation for their course in database
system concepts.

Course Title: Algorithm

Course Code: CS026
Credit: 3 units

Course Description:
It deals with the fundamental concepts and importance of computer algorithms and its
applications. The second part is the use of programming languages which require or uses
algorithm.
Course Title: Modeling and Simulation Theory
Course Code: CS028
Credit: 3 units
Course Description:
This course reflects the state-of-the-art and current trends in modeling and simulation. It
also deals with the detail on how to select all of the system component parameter values for
static and dynamic performance specification and limits. This is also about systems dynamics,
modeling, and interdisciplinary systems. The second part is about getting hands-on activities on
software which are related or can be used for modeling and simulation of computer systems or
other systems.

Course Title: Digital Electronics

Course Code: CS029
