1) Imagine you are assigned as the Planning engineer of a Green building

Project.
You are asked to build a “Bamboo Hut”. Solid Bamboo rods of outer diameter
10cm are available as per your demand. The Bamboo hut is Circular in Plan and
should have a carpet area(inside) of 76.057 sq.ft. Foundation Details are given
below. Hut has a circular lintel bamboo rod with its centre line at 2.05m from
ground level. The front central door opening is 0.8m X 2m ( note : no door is
provided) . There are two window openings 50cm X 50cm on the east and west (
Left and Right ) at the middle of 3m high circular wall.
Roof is cone shaped with central rise 1.5m and has a 60cm outward projection for
sun shade. (Roof is also made with bamboo rods radially joined at the top of cone).
The line diagram for the trusses (2 no.s 90° to each other) is given below:

Foundation: PCC 60cmX10cm , RR masonary 40cm X 40cm

Prepare the Plan, Elevation and Section for the Hut for approval from your higher
authority. (Data : 1m2 = 10.76 sq.ft)
Q.2) What is Quantity surveying? What approximate length of bamboo rod will
you order for the above project(Q.1) for its successful completion. ( allowed
variance +/- 10m )
