The time suggested for each question is 45 minutes.

1. A group of students carried out an experiment to investigate the contents of carbon dioxide in the
expired air of a sportsman who went through three different activities . Each activity was carried out
for 30 minutes. The sportsman was rested 15 minutes in between the activities. Figure 1 shows the
length of air column in the J tube before and after treatment with potassium hydroxide solution
(KOH).
