Tigerlily Foundation Hosts Annual Young Women’s Breast Health Day on the

Hill

On November 17, 2010, Tigerlily Foundation will hold its annual Young Women’s Breast Health
Day on the Hill. Held on Capitol Hill, this event will bring to the forefront issues that affect young
women’s breast health.

Reston, VA, November 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- As a key participant in the genesis of the Breast Cancer
Education and Awareness Requires Learning Young (EARLY) Act, and a member of the recently
established Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women,
a federal advisory committee established by the Education and Awareness Requires Learning Young
(EARLY) Act, Tigerlily Foundation's President, Maimah Karmo, is excited about launching a Young
Women's Breast Health Day on the Hill to create additional awareness of the importance of educating
young women about their breast health, as well as to highlight the issues that young women face - before,
during and after breast cancer.

As a member of the Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women, Ms. Karmo and 14 other
experts will assist CDC in developing evidence-based approaches to advance understanding and
awareness of breast cancer among young women through prevention research, public and health
professional education and awareness activities, and emerging prevention strategies.

Introduced by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), the EARLY Act authorizes the CDC to develop
initiatives to increase knowledge of breast health and breast cancer among women, particularly among
those under the age of 40 and those at heightened risk for developing the disease. The EARLY Act
proposes $9 million in funding per year for five years to launch a national breast cancer education
campaign to address this issue.

Ms. Karmo thanks Members of Congress for their support of this important issue and pledges to
"continue to make young women aware of their risks and be empowered advocates for their own health."

Tigerlily Foundation's Young Women's Breast Health Day on the Hill will present information from
leading experts in the area of breast health for women under the age of 40. Renowned breast surgeon, Dr.
Shawna Willey, MD, of Georgetown University's Betty Lou Ourisman Breast Center will be joined by
Dr. Rachel Brem, of George Washington University, Dr. Freya Schnabel, MD, Director of Breast
Surgery, NYU Clinical Cancer Center, Dr. Maria Rosa of the National Council of LaRaza, Dr. Melissa
Yates of Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Alex N. Mesbahi of Washington Breast Reconstruction,
representatives from the Ovarian Cancer Alliance, Facing Our Risk Empowered, Bright Pink, the African
Women Cancer Awareness Association, The Mautner Project, Sharsheret, Prevent Cancer Foundation,
Integrative Health Center of Virginia, the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum, Members of
Congress, breast cancer survivors and representatives from the Asian, Latino, Jewish, GLBT, Hispanic,
African and African American communities.
