These are my storyboards of what I want to do for my short film, I will annotate the

storyboards describing the shots and the narrative behind each storyboard and why I chose
to select certain camera shots etc.

The first shot you will see in my short

film will be a full shot of both characters
(Ted and Ray) and it will slowly change
into a medium shot just showing the
characters upper body. I am planning
that this will flow into each shot
smoothly instead of being cut into a
different angle.

Also I would like to note that the camera

position will change throughout the
scene when the characters will be
progressing up the stairs, this time I will
be making cuts to different angles to get
a good shot of the characters.

The narrative of this shot is that the characters are talking about their “plans” it is kept
discreet at first but will be more disclosed as the story plays out.

The reason I used these shots is because they are in my opinion suitable for the intended
scene. I want to get a shot showing the characters with lots of facial expressions selling the
emotion of the characters as in my view of watching films, it is important to have a facial
expression to sell the emotion such as smiling to indicate a happy emotion or a scowl for a
angry/annoyed emotion.
The shots selected will capture the goals I have in mind and as you can see in the
storyboard both characters are grinning as they are proud of the crimes they have
committed.
The next storyboard is the top of the stairs.

The camera will catch the characters arriving at the top of

the stairs. The camera will already be rolling as they reach
the top of the stairs.

It will be initially a fullshot of both characters but when

they start talking to each other I will cut to a medium shot
and later a close up on their face whenever there is
dialogue such as this.

The facial expression in the storyboards are just examples

of what I mean when I have a close up to show emotions
effectively.

Ray will attack Ted because he is greedy and conniving and wants to
have everything from the “plans” for himself. This is why in the
storyboard you can see Ray (in blue) with an angry expression on
their face, while Ted has a shocked/surprised facial expression as
he was not expecting to be sucker punched.
Next will be a conflict scene as the characters
begin brawling.
The fight will be more of a street fight feel such as
punching being a little sloppy not as in missing
punches but more of a less technical fight.
The fight scene won’t be long such as 30 seconds
max?
The camera angles will be a shaky camera for the
brawling but it will be stable towards the end of the
scene.

After the brawl has finished the camera will be a full

shot with a fallen Ted after Ray had beaten him
down. Ray will be very smug of his handy work
standing tall with a grin on his face.

I chose a full shot because I want to see both

characters in the shot.
Ray then leaves Ted.
This will also be a full shot of Ray leaving and it will have
both Ray and Ted in shot.

This is the same reason as the previous shot as it needs

to contain both characters.
