1. CHAIRPERSON’S ADRESS
Chairperson Assalammualaikum and a very good morning to all of you. I am glad to
( Yuhanis ) welcome all members to the second meeting of the science committee SK
Sungai Limau. Nice to see all of you here. We are here today to discuss
about our pupils performance in science during PKSR 2…
Before we begin our meeting…..I just want to say thank you for coming
today. Now can we call this meeting to order ?

All Yes.
Chairperson It’s been a month since our last meeting. Much has happened since then.
( Yuhanis ) Please refer to the agenda that has been given. As listed in the agenda,
the special business items for this meeting today are :
1. Strengths and weaknesses of the pupils and the reasons.
2. The ways to overcome weaknesses.
There are vital issues which the committee must deal with immediately.
So…let’s finish with the preliminaries and get down to the main business
quickly, shall we.

2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Chairperson Are they any apologies for absence for today’s meeting?

3. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

Chairperson Thank you, Can we now proceed to the next item, minutes of the
previous meeting.

Chairperson Please read through the minutes of the previous meeting which were

Chairperson Are there any other amendments?

Siti Khadijah Yes, Ms. chairperson. There is a correction to item no. 4.
 question for years 4 and 5 are provided by Pn. Fatimah Mohamad not
me , Pn.Siti Khadijah Bt Mohamed Noor.

4. MATTER ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MEETING

Chairperson Ok…that’s the minutes of the last meeting approved. Let’s move on.
( Yuhanis ) Any matters arising?
Rosmaliza Yes, Mr chairperson. I would like to ask about the preparations for the
week science committee. Have all the arrangements been made ?
Secretary Yes, all the preparations have been made. Mr. chairperson are the date is
( Fatimah ) suitable for the week science committee .
Chairperson Oh! I see…anyone of you can give any suggestion about the date for the
( Yuhanis ) week science committee.
Siti Khadijah I suggest that the date for the week science committee is 14.11.2011
Zaida I agree with you. I think pupils will enjoys these activities because
examination has been completed and the pupils can answer all the
question very well.

Rosmaliza mmm…that’s a good idea.

Nor hayati I’m agree with you.
Chairperson It look like everyone agree with that date…great.

Secretary All right…I’ll get that done by Monday. I will make an announcement and
( Fatimah ) paste on the science notice board about this activities.

5. SPECIAL BUSINESS

a). The strengths and weaknesses of the pupils and the reasons.
Chairperson If there is anything else, shall we move on? Our first item under special
( Yuhanis ) business today concerns the strengths and weaknesses of the pupils in
Science. Please refer to the analysis. So can we discuss it?
Secretary Based on this data, it shows that the year 1 pupils show the best result
( Fatimah ) which is 99.09 % past among the pupils of other years. I think this is
because the test paper prepared by the teachers. So teachers know how
to prepare the questions based on the pupil’s performance.
Siti Khadijah I agree with you. The year 1 pupils are school based evaluated. It is
recommended by the ministry of education in the new curriculum.
Chairperson Thank you Ms. Fatimah and Ms. Siti. Anything else?

Rosmaliza Refer to the analysis; it is followed by the year 3 and year 5 pupils. They
also did a good job during this PKSR 2. All the year 3 pupils past their
Science paper with 1.65 of the average grade subject. While for year 5
pupils, they scored 2.35 as their average grade subject.
Chairperson That’s good. How about the lowest?
( Yuhanis )
Zaida The lowest goes to year 4 and followed by year 6 pupils. I think this is
because the line test papers throughout Selangor.
Nor hayati I don’t agree. How about the year 3 and year 5 pupils? They also sit the
exam with the line test papers but they can do well.
Siti Khadijah I agree with you. I think this is because the test papers are quite difficult.
I teach them and I have looked at the questions. The questions are tough
for them. Compared to the year 3 and year 5, the questions are quite
easy for them.
Zaida I think this is because students in year 4 and 6 are not experts in science
process skills and manipulative skills of science.
Rosmaliza I’m agree with you, zaida
Secretary I also think pupils weak in science because attitudes of students who are
( Fatimah ) lazy and do not read books.
Nor hayati I agree with you, Fatimah.
Siti Khadijah I second the motion
Chairperson Okay, shall we put this matter in our minutes, Ms. Fatimah?

a) The way to overcome the weaknesses.

Chairperson That’s fine. Thank you. Glad we manage to discuss the matter fast. Let’s
( Yuhanis ) go on to the second item under special business – the way to overcome
the weaknesses. Any suggestions?
Secretary As we noticed that year 4 and 6 pupils are not performed well in this
( Fatimah ) PKSR 2, I suggest that year 4 and 6 pupils should be exposed with a lot of
the UPSR questions and provide more exercise to students on the
mastery of science process skills and manipulative skills of science. I
think this will help them to perform well.
Zaida I agree with you. I propose that teachers should prepare the sets of UPSR
based questions and do with pupils in classroom and also we can invited
experts and excellent teachers in answering technical questions
Siti Khadijah I second the motion.
Chairperson Is there anyone who rejects the proposal? Please raise your hands. Oh,
( Yuhanis ) it’s unanimous. So, I will bring this matter to our GPK and headmaster.
So, anything else? Other suggestions?
Nor hayati I suggest that we can do the one whole day class or camp to teach pupils
on the answering Science questions technique. Especially for year 4 until
year 6 pupils. I think this will help them a lot.
Rosmaliza I agree with you. We can do this camp on Saturday. We also can involve
the parents. So that parent know how their children performance in
Science and in the science camp we also can build peer study group for
pupils.
Secretary So, I propose that Answering Science Question Technique Camp or
( Fatimah ) Science Camp.
Zaida I second the motion.
Chairperson It is look like everyone agrees. Or any rejections? No? Thank you. So, we
( Yuhanis ) discuss about this camp in our next meeting.

6. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Chairperson We are now ready to discuss any other business. Does anyone have any
( Yuhanis ) comments or proposals?
Siti Khadijah Yes, Mr. chairperson. Corner for science classroom are poor. Can we do
something to make it interesting.
Nor hayati Yes. I think I agree with you Siti.
Rosmaliza I think the teachers do not have enough materials to make it interesting.
Zaida Yes….I also think like you, liza
Secretary That’s an interesting suggestion….Well…I hope the science committee Sk
( Fatimah ) Sungai Limau can contribute to make corner for science in class more
interesting.
Chairperson Okay…that’s fine….I agree with your opinion.
