Commitment to the Profession F D C B A

Comments:
- Excellent comments given by Reem’s MST in terms of her preparation and her professionalism 
- Reem has already taken on the role of a professional teacher at Summit Int’ School!!!

Planning for Learning F D C B A

Comments:
- Reem’s planning is EXCELLENT! This is one of the (many) reasons that her lesson is delivered so
effectively!
- Time was used very effectively by Reem; she didn’t have time to do the ‘exit slip’ strategy but made
sure, instead, to conclude with something very important: she asked a student to repeat today’s
learning outcome (i.e. what did you learn today?). Super!! Excellent decision-making skills 😊😊😊

Managing Learning F D C B A
Comments:
- This is a rowdy group; they come into the class very excited and they are quite loud.

- Before pulling out the puppet and the paper pizzas, and before announcing the competition (i.e. the
fun stuff), be sure to take time to ‘calm down’ the class. Take a few minutes, if you have, to instil
quiet and calmness inside the classroom. Although you managed behaviour very well today, you may
need to use ‘calming strategies’ with this class in the future.

- Reem does an EXCELELLENT job using the puppet in order to remind students of classroom rules. She
obtains their attention in a most effective manner.

- Reem is very much ‘in tune’ with the needs and the thinking of her students. She relates to them and
uses this talent to help manage their behaviour

- Reem demonstrates a capacity for multi-tasking and managing all the different aspects of a very
energetic classroom

- She is capable of being firm when necessary: uses tone of voice, “eyes on me” etc. She also uses
music to trigger ‘clean up’ time.

- Reem uses numerous and varied strategies to manage student behaviour: Very well done and she is
very successful here (despite how energetic these kids are)

Implementing Learning F D C B A
Comments:

- Reem starts off very confident and in control. Her voice carries and she uses it effectively.

- The learning outcome was clearly stated

- Reem’s instructions are always crystal clear: she uses specific and accurate language, and she sets
very clear expectations for students to follow

- The idea of a competition (to solve the division problems) gets the students very excited and
participating very actively!!! It’s really wonderful too see how excited they are about learning and
doing Math!!

- Excellent demonstration by Reem: she uses very precise language (Math terms), perfect grammar,
great pacing, excellent modelling on the whiteboard….. All and all, the presentation is crystal clear!
Wow! Very impressive!!!

- A student is asked to come to the whiteboard to model answers: Reem engages her splendidly!

- Reem models a 2nd and 3rd example to ensure that Ss are very clear on what needs to be done.
Once more, Reem understands her students’ learning needs very well.

- Reem manages resources very well. Her lesson plan is ingrained in her head and she knows exactly
where she is heading. Because she exerts so much confidence and because she is in full control of her
classroom, students follow, listen to her and respect her 😊😊😊

- Student-centered activity: ALL students get straight to work!!! This is proof that Reem has done a
really good job setting up/preparing the task.

- While Reem is working with the low level group, ALL other students are fully engaged in completing
their task. Impressive! Once more, this shows that Reem has gained the respect of all students and
that they consider her to be THEIR teacher!

- Overall. Reem has an excellent manner with students. She intuitively knows how to deal with
situations involving individual students or groups of students.

Assessment F D C B A
Comments:

- Reem is very conscious of the students’ progress

- She seems to be familiar with their levels, overall
- She is able to observe and assess students whilst conducting many other teacher tasks!
- Although Reem focusses on the ‘lower level’ group, she verifies the work being done at each table
and she also assessed the overall progress of the class

Reflection on Practice F D C B A
Comments:

- Reem is highly reflective. She was able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of her lesson. And she was
able to describe how the context of this particular lesson affected her performance

Action Plan:
- Pay attention to grammar. You made a few (only very few!) errors during the lesson:
. “Do you know what’s Ms Reem will teach us today?” (should say “Do you know what Ms Reem will
teach us today?”)

. “Everyone have a whiteboard” (should say “Everyone has a whiteboard”)

A very successful first observation Reem. I am really looking forward to observing you again 
