know what it will take to restore the proud club to its going to cut it. Instead, some obvious
changes needed to take place.
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, a proud
place as an NRL powerhouse. By MATT ATTARD and courageous club, has fallen on tough times
following major salary cap issues and a complete
overhaul of management and coaching staff.
But fear not, Bulldogs fans, for there is a woman
in power who has a vision for the future, someone
who intricately knows how the Bulldogs work best.
While success may be a few years away, you can
take solace in the fact that Chair Lynne Anderson
and the rest of the club hierarchy are doing
everything in their power to take the Bulldogs back
to where they belong.
“If we build the house right it can sustain
a tornado or whatever it might be,” she says.
“For me, the house that we have at Canterbury
was built on our values, our culture, our proud
history and our commitment to helping our
community. That’s our long-term play.”
Daughter of Peter ‘Bullfrog’ Moore, Anderson
says there are things that can go against any club
that are out of their control.
“The main thing for us is that we’re true to
what we know,” she says. “That’s the essence
of the Bulldogs, it has been for many years.”
The essence Anderson speaks of is the club’s
culture, which famously surrounds being ‘the
family club’. But what exactly does that mean?
“I often think that people laugh when we call
it a family,” she says.
“The best way to explain it is there have been
so many players over the years who play with us
and then go to other clubs, but they all come back
to club events, happy to share in great memories
and friendships forged at the Bulldogs.
“I’ve heard them say that every player should
play one year at Canterbury to know what a good
club is about. That’s the best thing you can have
said about yourself.”

GAMES IN A ROW
WITHOUT SCORING
20 POINTS
Much has been made of Newcastle’s
star-studded roster, but the early-season
hype hasn’t translated into points. The
Knights have failed to score 20 points
in any of their six games in 2019, and
they’ve only reached the figure once in
their past 12 games – a 20-12 win over
Penrith last year. The last time they
cracked the barrier was in Round 19,
2018 when they beat the Titans 30-24.
