Commitment to the Profession

Comments:

- Maryan behaves in the most professional manner during this lesson!!

- She works and acts as if she is a well experienced teacher 😊 Her MST confirmed this, once more!

Planning for Learning

Comments:

- The submitted lesson plan is of very high quality!

- The resources for this lesson are absolutely fantastic!!! Maryan has put so much work into these: they
are perfectly aligned to the LO, they are creative and attractive, and soooo much fun to use!!!
- Students are fully engaged in their activities: they are looooving the resources and the challenge
offered to them
- Time is planned perfectly !!!! 😊😊😊 (This had been a concern in the past but NO LONGER!!!!!)

Managing Learning
Comments:

- Maryan appoints a leader for each group; she manages this very well throughout the activity
- Maryan reviews the rules before allowing students to begin activities. Excellent!
- Uses “hands on top” strategy when class becomes too loud – effective!
- “I like the way group 1 is sitting quietly and working well”- also an effective strategy used by Maryan.
- Maryan does an EXCELLENT job managing time and helping students manage their own time: she
warns them about the time before starting, then she points at the timer on the whiteboard (excellent
resource!!) and she also reminds students about the time remaining, during the course of the lesson
- Maryam manages the group rotation very well: she has explained it prior to doing it; and when it’s
time to rotate, she gives very clear instructions on how to do it. It goes very smoothly even though
students are extremely excited about doing a rotation!! 😊
- Maryan also uses Dojo Points to manage noise levels and overall behaviour. Also very effective!
- Although noise levels can become quite loud, Maryan manages to lower the volume. Also, students
are loud simply because they’re excited and highly involved in learning 😊😊

Implementing Learning
Comments:
- Maryan expresses the learning outcome very clearly.

See back
- She introduces the ‘alligator song’: Ss love(!) the song/video; but Maryan needs to learn ALL the
words in order to model it more actively, more expressively.
- Instructions are given VERY, VERY CLEARLY. She models each activity using the pre-prepared materials
on the board – SUPER preparation here 😊
- Following the rotation, Ss remain highly enthusiastic about the resources they are using
- CLOSING: Maryan asks them to voice the learning outcome – great! Then they play a relevant and fun
game (using ICT) on the whiteboard. EXCELLENT CLOSING!!!

Assessment
Comments:
- Maryan perpetually verifies the students’ work by circulating amongst all tables
- She has a very good sense of where each student stands

Reflection on Practice
Comments:

- Maryam has demonstrated that she is able and willing to apply the feedback given to her after Observation 1
- She is also capable of reflecting on her own teaching and on her students’ learning: she fully understands the
reasons and consequences of all her interventions.

Action Plan:
(1) Try to correct grammar errors such as the following:

- The alligator always eat the number that is greater” (should say “eats”)
- When you hear the ring, you should to clean up …. (should say “you should clean up”)
- Can the leaders comes to me? (should say “come”)
- Now I’m going to open the timer (should say “Now I will turn on the timer”)
- This group will get a point because they make a line ….. (should say “because they made a line”)
