Hannah Jones Elementary Education
Start with your WHY: Why are you pursuing this degree? What do you want the outcome to be? How are you
going to work toward making that outcome possible? **Is the outcome directly related to your WHY?
WHY:_For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be a teacher. I loved explaining concepts to people as well
as the feeling of accomplishment I got when those concepts were understood. I've also always dreamt of being
an elementary school teacher. This came from the admiration I felt for several of my elementary teachers, as well
as a desire I have to teach students before they are firmly set in their ways of thinking. I believe I will have more
of an impact on the lives of my students if I teach them while they're young. Moreover, I want the chance to love
and appreciate my students as human beings, instead of just students. I want them to feel loved no matter what
What:_I want to be an influence in the lives of my students. Not only do I want to develop in them a lifelong love
of learning, but I also want to teach them how to be good human beings. I want them to know that they are
How:_First of all, I'm going to do everything I can so that I am the best possible teacher that I can be. My first
step is to get an education at Butler. I want to make sure I am trained to be the best resource for all of my
students, so that they can understand what I am teaching and also so they feel comfortable coming to me
regarding anything that may be going on in their lives. Once I am trained, I'm going to love these children with
everything I have inside of me. I will be as patient as I possibly can and make sure my students know that they
are wanted and that they are amazing and that they have so much potential._
2. Special Olympics ALPS April 26-27, 2019 Aligns with my diverse learners minor. This was an extremely
powerful experience that taught me so much about people with
special needs and the influence that we can have in each others’
lives.
