As the game begins, something is causing the villagers to despair. Kagematsu
player defines this threat. The threat starts at five dice, but it may grow
stronger later from the Looming Shadow. What is the threat to the village?

2 Confrontation

girl chooses whether to participate

1) Girls who fail disappear.
2) If all girls who decided to test
their Hope succeed, Kagematsu is
victorious against the Threat and
returns. Continue to Conclusion.
3) If no girl chose to test their Hope,
Kagematsu is defeated and you
narrate how Threat takes the village.
3 Conclusion
Reveal which girl was most loved,
without revealing scores. Choose
at ties without revealing the tie. If
the girl disappeared during the
confrontation, announce “nobody”.
You and each girl still in the game
get an epilogue. The most loved
narrates for Kagematsu, if there is
one.

1 Courtship To begin a scene, request an affection from Kagematsu.

He’ll frame the scene. Dice are rolled to determine
whether he’ll grant what you’re seeking. You roll either Charm (C) or Innocence
(I), Kagematsu rolls the listed difficulty. You may add desperation dice for any
desperations available to you, either before or after the roll. Use each desperation
only once per scene, and permanently lose any desperation that fails. You may only
try to win each affection once. End courtship when a girl convinces Kagematsu to
make the promise to help the village.

leaves and the Kagematsu player narrates how the Threat takes the village.

If you’re not out of the story, narrate an
result. Each round, choose whether you wish epilogue for your girl. If Kagematsu
to compare your Hope dice against the declares you as his most loved, entwine
Threat. This holds the risk of failure, but the samurai to your epilogue. If you are
otherwise Kagematsu will never return. out of the story, nobody is allowed to
speak of you.
