====================================================================

There are a variety cross section directory (xsdir) files provided:

-------------------------------------------------------------
File Intended Purpose
-------------------------------------------------------------
xsdir Default for MCNP5 & MCNPX
Identical to xsdir_mcnp5_7.1

xsdir_mcnp6.1 Default for MCNP6

Identical to xsdir_mcnp6.1_7.1

xsdir_mcnp6.1_7.1 MCNP6 file with ENDFB-7.1 as default for

xsec data, ENDFB-7.1 continuous S(a,b)
as default for thermal scattering data.

xsdir_mcnp5_7.1 MCNP5/X file with ENDFB-7.1 as default

for xsec data, ENDFB-7.0 discrete S(a,b)
as default for thermal scattering data.

xsdir_mcnp6.1_7.0 MCNP6 file with ENDFB-7.0 as default

xsdir_mcnp5_7.0 MCNP5/X file with ENDFB-7.0 as default

xsdir_2012-01-06 xsdir released with mcnp5-1.60, with

ENDFB-7.0 data and corrected photon data
libraries mcplib84 & mcplib63
xsdir_2010-06-30 xsdir released with mcnp5-1.60, with
ENDFB-7.0 data and incorrect photon data
libraries mcplib04 & mcplib03
xsdir_2008-09-03 xsdir released with mcnp5-1.51, with
ENDFB-7.0 data. Same as xsdir_2010-06-30
xsdir_2005-10-18 xsdir released with mcnp5-1.40, with
ENDFB-6 & T16 data.

The files in this data directory are separated into subdirectories.

There are two standard subdirectories, which are:

xdata/ : The directory of the Data Team (XCP-5) supported files

xmc/ : The directory of ACE files supported by the Monte Carlo

group (XCP-3)

Because the ACE files are in subdirectories, all ACE file names are
preceeded with xdata/ or xmc/ in all of the xsdir files.

Note for the LANL XCP-lan and HPC clusters (only):

At this time, the directory xdata is a symbolic link to the
Data Teams "data/nuclear/mc/type1" directory. In the final
distribution, this will be a copy of that information. This
link has to be created and is system dependent, i.e., it is
a different path on the XLan than on the production
clusters.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The MCNP5/X default files, xsdir and xsdir_mcnp5_7.1, have the

ENDFB-VII.1 data as the default. They also contain current values
for the atomic weight ratios. In these files, the default mcplib
version for photon data is mcplib84.

The MCNP6 default file, xsdir_mcnp6.1, is iedntical to the file

xsdir_mcnp6.1_7.1. The default data is ENDFB-VII.1. In this
MCNP6 release, the default photon data is mcplib84.
The atomic weight ratios are taken from the cross section directory
file generated by XCP-5 for the ENDFB-VII.1 data.

The file xsdir_mcnp6.1_endfb-7.0 has the same contents and formatting

as xsdir_mcnp6.1_endfb-7.1, but its ordering is such that ENDFB-VII.0
is the default. This file is provided to enable users to run existing
MCNP inputs (that use generic ZAIDs) with ENDFB-VII.0 by only
specifying xsdir=xsdir_mcnp6.1_endfb-7.0 on the command line.

The file xsdir_mcnp5_endfb-7.0 has the same contents and formatting

as xsdir_mcnp5_endfb-7.1, but its ordering is such that ENDFB-VII.0
is the default. This file is provided to enable users to run existing
MCNP inputs (that use generic ZAIDs) with ENDFB-VII.0 by only
specifying xsdir=xsdir_mcnp5_endfb-7.0 on the command line.

The files xsdir_2012-01-06, xsdir_2010-06-30, xsdir_2008-09-03,

xsdir_2005-10-18 are provided for historical reference & possible
use. These were the xsdir files associated with previous MCNP5
releases (1.60, 1.51. 1.40) including before/after the 2012 bug
fix for incorrect photon Doppler broadening code/data mismatch.

The length of lines in an xsdir file is limited to 80

characters. These modified files have been verified to meet this
criteria. In some cases, trailing zeros on temperatures were removed
(e.g. 0.000E+00 -> 0.0E+00). In some cases, lines were wrapped using
the '+' continuation marker.
