Reaction paper on Rotaract Seminar

1st Speaker

The first speaker was Dr. Eric Tayag from DOH about public health on preventing diseases
and disaster response. With this topic, he implies the use of leadership that it can be used in all
access of health.
It is very saddened that Philippines ranks 160 with life expectancy of 69.4 years. Before, I
thought that the years expected to live here in this world as a Filipino was that numbers (69.4)
but, it was made clear by Dr. Tayag that it becomes lower when there are children died under
the age of five because many of us gets confused on this matter. This gives us an awareness why
the Philippines is suffering with this matter. Knowing that we were the fist country to mandate
“unang yakap” but still we were far from Cuba who is also, like us, a third world country ranks
86.
Many people do not have a nice house so they are loitering on the streets. They probably
become malnourish because they are not taken cared of. We rank 5th on tuberculosis cases in the
world it is becoming rampant and 33 new HIV patient reported everyday. Why is this happening?
Dr. Tayag is right that everyone should has an access to health. But Filipinos are stubborn we
neglect the health just to save money. Some of us would say, “wala lang to, kaya ko to.” We tend
to heal our wounds by using our courage. This is our mindset that should be stripped in us. This
does not save us from illnesses and diseases but this aggravates our sufferings.

2nd speaker

The second speaker was Mr. Miggui Moreno who spoke about business leadership. With
his experience as a purchasing manager of Dynamic Planners and Construction Corp. handled
engineers, architects and workers, shared about his life when he was the same age as us. They
were not poor nor rich but he strived hard being a working student. The capability building that
he talked about how to take advantage in every situation. Being an innovator

Being a role model will make you a better leader. Good communication with workmates.
