1. Background
Kalanga Hydro Pvt Ltd. (“KHPL”) is presently constructing Kalanga Gad Hydroelectric Project
(“Project”) with installed capacity of 15.33 MW. The project utilizes water from Kalanga
River to generate electricity. The project lies in Bajhang District of Far Western Development
Region. The gross head of the project is 123.00m and design discharge is 15.75 m3/sec.
The annual generated energy will be 97.96 GWh. As per the tripartite agreement between
the Bank, the Company and the Consultancy, Units Engineering Consultancy Pvt Limited
has been appointed for the verification of the bills submitted by the Company.
3. Assignment
Units Engineering Consultancy Pvt Limited carried out the verification of First IPC for
Hydromechanical Works for Kalanga Gad Hydroelectric Project submitted by Kalanga
Hydropower Pvt Limited for the period up to Baishak 2075 to Mangshir 2075.
4. Scope of work
The objective of this work is to conduct verification of the IPC-1 of for Kalanga Gad
Hydroelectric Project submitted by Kalanga Hydropower Pvt Limited based on the IPC-1,
contract documents, detailed project reports, other related supporting documents and site
visits.
6. Limitations
The verifications were carried out based on the documents provided by the Client/Bank,
and on observations from site visit. Due to the nature of the work, there is every possibility
of errors going unnoticed misstatements remaining undiscovered. Errors and misstatements
discovered at later date can be corrected and adjusted in the next running bill.
7. Expenditure Summary
Total claimed amount in this running bill is Rs. 8,131,103.50 out of which Rs. 8,131,103.50
has been certified based on the submitted supporting documents. VAT, TDS, Retention
money etc. have not been included in this total amount.
I. General Items
There has been a recommendation of NRs 730,000.00 under the heading general
item. The applied amount includes contractor’s site facilities such as mobilization,
establishment, operation, maintenance, and demobilization of contractor’s general
facilities including temporary accommodations for his personal, offices, medical
services, canteens, plants workshop, store, warehouses, assembly, storage and
material yard etc.

The Consultancy has performed the verification of the bills submitted by the company and
has made the following recommendations.
• UEC has recommended a total expenditure of Rs. 8,131,103.50 out of which Rs.
8,131,103.50 in the IPC-1 as project expenses for Hydromechanical Works based on the
submitted supporting documents by client.
