Media Tactics: Residential Advisors Campaign

For our campaign, we are using the following media outlets to reach our target audience:

Print

 Flyers: Flyers will be hung around campus during the application acceptance period. The
targeted placement areas will include the library, Culp Center, and buildings that hold gen-ed
classes, since the younger population of ETSU is the main target. The flyers will feature our “key
ring” design and the “Be a Resident Advisor” slogan and campaign.

Social media:

 Instagram: For this medium, scheduled posts will be made to reach out to the students and
show the involvement. For example, pictures of events that each hall hosts and “Spotlight
Sunday,” where each Sunday a student or advisor gets a post dedicated to them and what they
love about being an RA or student living in their hall.
 Twitter: Students will be encouraged to tweet what they love about living in their hall or their
advisor. Twitter could also be used to create awareness about events that are being held in the
halls, deadlines for the advisor applications, and other housing related events on campus.
 Facebook: Existing Facebook pages should be updated more often. A specific Facebook page will
be made for Resident Life, providing a forum for RAs to communicate with residents.
 Pinterest: Pinterest can be used to provide a DIY perspective on how students can decorate
their room according to what hall they are placed.

Nontraditional media:

 T-shirts: The Residential Advisors will be given t-shirts to wear to create a walking
advertisement. The t-shirt will have the logo and crest on it as well.
 Stickers: There will be stickers designed for the advisors to place on their cars, laptops, binders,
etc.

Outdoor:

 Banners: Banners will be hung on campus to advertise resident advisor positions and resident
life in general. They will have the “key ring” logo and crest placed on them.

Personal:

 “Meet & Greets” and Booths: During Welcome Week, the residential advisors will have booths
set up to be able to “meet & greet” the students to have them follow them on social media and
receive a type of incentive. This will also create awareness for the student body.
