b) A machine of mass m=500 Kg is mounted on a simply supported beam of
span=2.0m and having a rectangular section (depth=0.20m , width=0.8m) and
E= 2.06x1011 N/m2 . To reduce the deflection of the beam a spring of stiffness
‘K’ is attached at the mid span shown in Fig below. Determine the stiffness ‘K’
which is needed to reduce the deflection of the beam: (10)
