The Ideal of Accepting Challenges In Your Life

“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decided to be” (Ralph).

In society today a person can make up their own choice that may have a lasting impact on them.

This quote generally expresses the outcome of individuals who face common challenges in order

to become successful in life. In this case, I agree with E.W Ralph’s quote because life is full with

a lot of challenges and experiences. I personally believe that everyone of us in this world was

challenged in doing somethings we weren’t so good at for example, in school, work, by a friend

etc. In this case a challenge that many others face is learning how to read and write. For example,

coming to America as a French speaker I didn't know how to speak English. It was very

challenging for me to keep up with other students in my class who knew how to speak English

more than me. So, I made the choice to create a plan for myself in order to accept the challenge

that came in my way. Furthermore, a person can succeed in life if they accept the challenges that

come in their way by setting goals for themselves and surrounding themselves with positive

people.

The first step to becoming successful in life is setting your goals for the future. This is

true, because many of us in our lives where challenged to do something we aren’t so good at. For

example, imagine starting your first year in college and you walk into your first class of the day,

organic chemistry!. As you sit down, your professor starts off by asking, “ What is the most

abundant organic compound on Earth ?”. It’s precisely unlikely for you to answer the question

because you don’t know much about the topic and because it’s your first day in school.

Furthermore, the biggest challenge I faced in my life was when I started my first year in

Queensborough Community College. My first year in college I had to pick a major that I wanted

to pursue in the future. I chose a field in health which was nursing. I had an insight of what

nurses did and personally believed that in order to become one there was a lot of challenges I had

to be ready for. So, as a freshman I made the choice setting my own goals in the beginning of the

semester. The most important goals were to make sure I took all assigned courses and have a 3.0

GPA. In addition, people can succeed in life by setting goals to guide them through what they

really want to do in the future.

The second step of becoming successful in life is surrounding yourself with people who

think positive about you. This is so because many of us in our lives surround ourselves with

negative people. Negative people are capable of beating a person down with hurtful words that

would make he or she not believe as strongly in themselves as before. In other words, negative

people are not as supportive we think of them being around us. For example, If I were to listen to

what others thought of me, I probably would have dropped out of school, and I would have

careless about my future. Furthermore, the second biggest challenge I faced in my life was when

I was a High school senior. At the time, none of the high school students in my class believed

that I would go to college. This is because in 2013 I migrated in the United States without

learning how to speak English. Which means I did not now how to read or write in reading

comprehension. So, it was very challenging for me to fit in with the group of students in my class

because I was different from them. During the time, I used to hear people laugh at me for not

understanding a little word in reading. Until, it came to a point where I really was not caring

anymore, instead it give me the courage to do better in school. After, my high school year ended

I passed all of my classes with a b plus grade. And I was able to graduate and attend the college I

wanted to go too. In addition, If I were to continue to listen to the same people back in high

school. I would not have been going here as a QCC student and majoring in nursing. In other

words, no matter how many people doubt me I still believed in myself no matter how

challenging it was for me. So, with the benefit and doubt the same people who thought of me

different, saw the good side of me.

In order, to be prepared for a challenge you have to set goals for the future and surround

yourself with positivity. This is so because a person can come in between you and your work. So,

it’s your job to not allow this person to come and underestimate you. Furthermore, these reasons

relates back to Ralph quote because given all the examples, people should start realising that in

order to succeed there's obstacles. Which is why I find it’s important that people take the courage

to manage themselves and plan their future. Overall, as a human being you never know when

you would expect another bigger challenge.
