Lesson: Dynamics
Previous Experience: Students have performed specific dynamic terms (piano, forte, mezzo
piano and mezzo forte), students have played the steel pan, have a general understanding of the
culture of Trinidad and Tobago
Previous Knowledge: Students are familiar with the Italian terms piano, forte, mezzo piano and
mezzo forte. Students have basic knowledge of steelpan playing techniques and have an
awareness of different genres.
General Objective: Understand the Italian terms piano, forte, mezzo piano, mezzo forte,
pianissimo, fortissimo, crescendo and decrescendo.
Specific Objectives
Affective: To develop a sense of accomplishment through teamwork.
Psychomotor: To develop their playing skills as well as their ability to incorporate movement
while performing.
Cognitive: To have a better understanding of the piece both lyrically and theoretically
(dynamics).
Set Induction/Introduction: Teacher would play the selected song (“We Not Giving Up” by
Machel Montano ft. Doug E Fresh) for the students as they walk into the room.
