Boogie Board

The first tool that I will be talking about today is a Boogie Board. A boogie board is a

little tablet like tool with a stylus attached. One will write on the board with their stylus and see

that whatever they are writing will be shown on the board. After whatever is wanted to be written

is on the board, it can be shared with whomever is around and then you can simply delete it with

the press of a button. There will be a button on the top of the Boogie Board and when the picture,

or writing on the screen is wished to disappear whoever is using it will just press the button and

the screen will be clean. One way that Boogie boards were used in a classroom was as an exit

ticket. They were passed out at the end of class and then the teacher put a question on the board

and the children wrote their name and their answer to the question on the Boogie Board and then

hand it in on the way out. I think that this is a very good way to use Boogie Boards in older

grades such as four and five. The way that I would implement them into my classroom is as a

math activity. If we are learning addition I would put a problem on the board and then have the

children solve it and put the answer on their Boogie Board as I walk around and check. This is a

very cool tool to use in the classroom, and I will definitely add it to lessons when I become a

teacher!

Virtual Reality

The second tool that I have chosen to research more is Google Cardboard. This is

something so fun and can be so exciting to use in the classroom. Google Cardboard is a Virtual

Reality tool that is made to be simple, and more affordable. To work Google Cardboard, one will

only need the headset, and a smartphone. After that, on the smartphone the app google cardboard

will need to be installed. After the app is downloaded, it is to be placed in the proper holder for

the phone, then the game or activity will be played. A child will look through the lens and see a

world that comes to life! It is such a cool and fun experience for the students. One way that

Google Cardboard has been used in the classroom is to explore the brain and its cells. The

teacher downloaded an app that was able to be used in Google Cardboard and they then took

their lesson about brains, and their cells and made it into something so interesting and fun for the

children to learn. It was explained that this was a very good way to explore the brain and learn

more about it. Since that last educator used this tool to explore I believe that in my classroom I

will do the same. The way that I would use this tool in my classroom is as a virtual field trip.

When teaching the children about other countries and places in the world, I think that using

Google Cardboard is the best way to give the children the best real life experience of it, since we

cannot actually go there. I love Google Cardboard and I will definitely implement it in my future

classroom.

Augmented Reality

The last tool that I have chosen to research is augmented reality. Augmented reality is a

technology that puts a computer-generated image on a user's view of their world, and what they

are seeing on their camera, then providing a composite view. An example of an educator using

augmented reality in their classroom is having a book with a few pictures and when someone

scans their phone over it, it brings the photo to life! I think that augmented reality is such an

awesome way to really get the kids engaged and excited about learning! The way that I would

use that teacher’s idea is bringing things to life. In my classroom I would have a spelling

worksheet to give out, and have the children work on. Then after they are completed I would

have them scan their phones on the words, and when a word is scanned, the correct way of the

spelling will appear. I think this would be a great way to help kids learn, but also keep them

interested. Augmented reality is such a great way to get children to understand concepts more,

keep them engaged, and keep a positive energy in the air while learning.
