Ads Commission Program
The Google Hotel Ads Commission Program combines the benefits and reach of Hotel Ads with the
ease and performance of industry standard commission programs. Hotels can easily participate
in Hotel Ads with their publicly available commissionable rates. Hotels participating in the Hotel
Ads Commission Program pay Google a commission based on the rate booked. Hotels only pay a
commission when a valid hotel reservation is consumed. Commissions to Google will be paid in the
same way you do today with other travel agencies.

How is the placement of a Hotel Ad determined?


Google Hotel Ads are based on an auction. Google evaluates the commission percentage rate,
the price of the hotel, and the conversion statistics. All of these factors are used to convert the
commission percentage into an effective cost per click (CPC). This calculated CPC is then used to
enter each Hotel Ads auction. In addition to the CPC bids, the outcome of a Hotel Ads auction is also
determined by price competitiveness and price accuracy.

For example, for a $200 room rate, at 10% commission, with a 10% conversion rate, the CPC would
effectively be $2.00. The $2.00 CPC would be used in the auction against the other advertisers that
are bidding on the same property for the same itinerary. Your ad position will vary based on how
competitive it is at each auction.

Why does my Hotel Ads booking link not show up higher in the placement?
If there are a lot of advertisers bidding to be displayed in Hotel Ads for a very popular property, your
calculated CPC based on the commission percentage may not be competitive enough. In this case,
you will be outranked in the auction, and therefore your Hotel Ads booking link may be lower in the ad
placement or it may not be displayed at all.

What can I do to improve my ad placement?


First of all, remember: with the commission model, you only pay commissions on consumed stays
and therefore there is no risk to you. Since you are entering the Hotel Ads auction with a calculated
CPC based on a fixed commission rate, it however also means that you cannot actively manage your
bids. You could change the commission percentage and thus participate in the auction with a different
calculated CPC. Contact your account manager for more details.

How are reservation changes and cancellations processed?


Guests will contact the hotel directly to manage and cancel their reservations. Google does not
process cancellations. Commissions will be paid on consumed guest stays only. You do not pay a
commission for cancelled bookings.
