27th Annual Stroll for Epilepsy Awareness

San Francisco, CA, May 01, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Join the Northern CA Epilepsy Foundation at Six Flags
Discovery Kingdom on May 18, 2019 for the 27th Annual Epilepsy Awareness Stroll. This
family-friendly event at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is a wonderful opportunity to raise funds, support
and awareness for individuals with epilepsy and their families. Come join them for a day of fun,
education and inspiration.

Each year families bring teams of people to raise money to support the programs the foundation provides
such as Camp Coelho. The Camp provides a week for kids with epilepsy that for some parents may be
their only safe week off a year. Many doctors and nurses from Northern CA also donate a week of their
time to make this happen for the parents and the children.

Over 50 teams of family and friends are expected this year to join together to stroll and walk to raise
awareness that 1 in 26 will develop epilepsy in their lifetime and raise funds to End Epilepsy. Some
families have been walking for 27 years to help raise funds for research and the stigma.

The Northern CA Epilepsy Foundation's goal is to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate
in all life experiences, to improve how the community views epilepsy, and to dispel myths about this
condition by providing information through statewide training, events, and programs. Scholarships for the
camps are also available from the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern CA. For more information go to

Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder in the United States after migraines, strokes
and Alzheimer's disease. Its prevalence is greater than autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and
Parkinson's disease combined. Despite how common the condition is and the major advances in diagnosis
and treatment, epilepsy is among the least understood of the major chronic conditions and kills more
people than breast cancer each year.
