ADDRENALINE APPROACH

Most departures and landings take place on runway

27, which represents a challenging approach for
pilots going closely over the nearby Airport Garage
building.

GENERAL AVIATION

San Diego Intl also features a fair amount of

Commuter and GA traffic with FBO services
from Jimsair located on the NE side of the field.
South across the street from San Diego
Lindbergh Field is the Coast Guard Air Station
(CGAS). When starting a flight at “Dock 2” with
the Cessna 208 Amphibian you can use the
ramp by the pier to get into the water or cross
the Harbor Drive to get from the hanger to the
runway. Approaching 27. Photographer: Steve Pells

RECOMMENDED DISPLAY SETTINGS

FS2004: Click <SETTINGS> <DISPLAY> <HARDWARE> and set “Global max texture size” to
massive or high.

FS2004: Click <SETTINGS> <DISPLAY> <SCENERY> and set “Autogen density to dense or very
dense.

ATI graphic cards: Within ATI’s Direct 3D Display Properties, set both Texture Preference and Mipmap
Detail Level to High Quality.

PERFORMANCE TWEAKS

Although San Diego is a highly detailed scenery it offers considerably good frame-rate performance even
on low-end systems starting at 1Ghz. Unlike most scenery add-ons including FlyTampa’s own Tampa
(KTPA), this scenery is far less dependant on raw CPU power than it is on the actual graphics card and
it’s RAM. A current ATI® Radeon® or Nvidia® Geforce® class graphics card with at least 32MB RAM is
considered the minimum requirement, a 64MB graphic card is highly recommended.

FS2004 Tip: Most systems can achieve a significant frame-rate increase at FlyTampa-San Diego by
simply setting the “Autogen density” to normal or dense instead of extremely dense.

Tip: FlyTampa-San Diego supports several levels of detail that can be set within Flight Simulator by
using the <SCENERY COMPLEXITY> slider.

UNINSTALLING FLYTAMPA-SAN DIEGO

1. Delete the scenery entry for FlyTampa-San Diego within the FS2002/04 scenery database by clicking
<SETTINGS> <SCENERY LIBRARY> or edit the “scenery.cfg” file by hand (located within your
FS2002/04 directory).

2. FS2002 / Optional: Reset the default AF by dragging the file “af_flytampa_ksan_original.txt” onto
fs2002_AFInstaller.exe. Both are located in the “AF” folder of your FlyTampa- San Diego installation.

3. Delete the FlyTampa-San Diego directory “.../Addon Scenery/FlyTampa- SanDiego/”.
